Couldn't find a pic of Hoft and Bannon together. But Bannon IS a horcrux for the guy on the left.
Couldn’t find a pic of Hoft and Bannon together. But Bannon IS a horcrux for the guy on the left.

Jim Hoft, the Stupidest Man on the Internet, saw some video of Nancy Pelosi calling President Steve Bannon a “White Supremacist,” and he is super-angry! What’s more, Hoft knows exactly what needs to happen now!

We think perhaps Mr. Hoft has only a very tenuous grasp of both the First Amendment and libel laws. As a public figure, and more pertinently, now a public official, Steve Bannon has about as much chance of successfully suing Nancy Pelosi for calling him a “White Supremacist” as Nancy Pelosi would of suing Jim Hoft for calling her “unhinged.” But let’s see what horrifying thing Nancy Pelosi said about the former Breitbart CEO and newest permanent member of the National Fucking Security Goddamned Council:

Well, hell, let’s add “quotation marks” to the list of things Hoft doesn’t understand — Hoft’s headline has Pelosi saying a thing she actually did not say. She called President Bannon a “White Supremacist on the National Security Council,” not a “White Supremacist in the White House” (yes, this is a nitpick but it’s fun).

Now, Jim Hoft knows Steve Bannon personally, and he happens to know that Steve Bannon is “Not a Racist Crackpot Like Rev. Wright or Terrorist Bomber Like Bill Ayers,” which really is just about the highest possible compliment. Maybe Bannon will someday have that engraved on his tombstone (after he dies alone and unloved, of natural causes, many years from now). To return the favor, we shall say that we don’t know Mr. Hoft, but we’re pretty sure he is not a serial killer like Jeffrey Dahmer, nor is he quite as stupid as Daisy, the un-housebreakable border collie once owned by noted political pundit Our Girlfriend. At least so we assume; if photos of Mr. Hoft pooping right in the middle of a grisly crime scene come forward, we will of course run a correction.

As to Hoft’s character defense of Mr. Bannon, we have to say that “absolutely NO EVIDENCE Steve Bannon has any inks [sic] at all to any racist group” would be an excellent defense against the claim that Bannon belongs to an organized racist group, but doesn’t really get at whether Bannon is a white supremacist or sympathetic to white nationalist ideology. (He probably is, and he definitely is.) It’s not Nancy Pelosi, after all, who proudly touted Breitbart.com as “a platform for the alt-right.” As to whether it’s actually defamatory to call him a white supremacist, we’d love to see the depositions in that lawsuit, which would include any number of fine public comments Bannon has made about the foreign hordes who are changing America into a very bad place. Ah, but as long as he’s never actually said That One Word, he can flirt with racists, provide them a platform, and bask in their love, all while plausibly claiming he’s merely a nationalist, not a white nationalist, at least under rightwing rules. He just doesn’t like foreigns, especially Muslims, is all (and here come all the Deleted Commenters informing us that “Muslim” is not a race, so there!).

In conclusion, Jim Hoft is stupid and wrong, and he also still owes us $3150. Pay up, Butthead.

Remember, only democrats can be racists because Republicans fought for freedom in the civil war.

  • Michael Smith

Somewhat OT, but speaking of race, I have a story I’d like to tell:

I live in Indiana, PA – there is a young guy here named Nashwan, who is from Syria and is feeling the effects of these senseless policies. Nashwan came to our town on a student visa, and is getting a master’s degree in music from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He raised money to come here by reporting on the civil war in his native country for a news agency. But right now, he has no work visa and so he cannot get a job unless it is under the table. So about a month ago, one of our trendy new microbreweries threw him a fundraiser so that he could pay his balance on this semester and keep his full time student status – and his visa.

Nashwan can bring the house down on a violin, so he played at the brewery all night with many local musicians (there’s a weirdly strong music scene here). At one point, disaster struck, and two of Nashwan’s strings broke. His friends hurried to the IUP music building to grab him a new violin. During that time, the other musicians in the crowd stood in for him and hammed it up to distract everyone.

The turnout was well beyond expectation – people from the college, assorted young professionals, a few oddball liberals from around town, and plenty of people who just like to drink and listen to live music. The latter group was a bit surprising because most people in the area are rural, conservative whites. When the Indiana Gazette ran a story that morning to raise hype, at least one comment asked if “his papers were legit.” Nevertheless, even unexpected portions of the town turned out, and the event was a big success. They raised enough money to cover his costs. He was in the process of getting a work visa, and applying to PhD programs. Until a week or so ago, his spirits were notably high.

Now his attitude is quite changed, and you can understand why. He’s a Syrian here on a student visa, and so all of a sudden he’s like the worst thing you can be. He goes straight from class to his apartment because he’s been advised by the online refugee community to avoid contact with police officers. He’s been told to avoid airports, so he can’t fly anywhere for his PhD interviews. He’s thinking of moving to China, but as of now he doesn’t know how he would pay for a ticket or get through a United States airport.

My friend Pat was talking with him, and Nashwan said “I’m sorry things that are happening in my country are affecting yours.”

    • MynameisBlarney

      Damn, that’s sad.

    • Hellhathnofury Demme

      I’m sorry, too.

    • Suttree

Ugh. I hope he stays and things get better really soon. I fucking hate this shit!

    • Msgr_MΩment

A friend got his shrink credentials at IUP and once mentioned that it was a community where the Klan actually advertised in the local paper (hope that was an exaggeration). I’m pleased to hear that there’s a lively community of progressives and progressive-friendlies.
Best wishes for Nashwan (and our very own democracy).

others have mentioned this OT news today, but I like the break down here (and remember the jobs report numbers were either a lie, fudged, or not accurate during the obama years):

Watch Fox & Friends Accidentally Praise Obama’s Last Jobs Report

(best quote presented out of order: Economic Advisors, pointed out that the “reference week” for the latest jobs data ran through January 12, meaning the entire report predates the Trump administration by over a week.”)

Fox News gushed over the jobs report for January 2017, the last of former President Barack Obama’s presidency, calling it “fantastic news” but implicitly crediting Donald Trump, who wasn’t even in office when the data were collected, for the success by calling it the “first jobs report under President Trump.”

Fox News correspondent Heather Nauert praised the January jobs report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) on the February 3 edition of Fox & Friends, referring to it as “the first jobs report under President Trump” and labeling it as “fantastic news.” Nauert praised the report for showing that 227,000 new jobs were created in January, which she described as “a lot more than expected.” Nauert failed to mention Barack Obama, who was still the president of the United States for most of January. She concluded the segment by reiterating that this is “great news on the jobs front this morning” and suggesting Trump “would call that huge.”

Theresa May in Trump’s orbit; EU leaders wary.

    https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-02-03/may-urges-eu-leaders-to-be-patient-and-constructive-with-trump

U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May told fellow European leaders they must be patient and constructive with Donald Trump after they said they don’t need her as a go-between in their relations with the U.S. President.

May briefed her counterparts a week after she held hands with Trump in the White House and told them the new president expects them to pay their share for defense in return for his “100 percent” commitment to NATO.

“She urged other EU leaders to work patiently and constructively with a friend and ally, an ally who has helped guarantee the longest period of peace this continent has ever known,” May’s office said in a statement after the meeting in Valletta, Malta. “The alternative — division and confrontation — would only embolden those who would do us harm.”

May had Trump’s ear for an afternoon on Jan. 27 and shared her impressions of a man many of her counterparts view with suspicion. Any hopes she had of bridging the gap between the EU and Trump, as the U.K. prepares to leave the bloc, were dashed with leaders making it clear they would deal with Washington themselves.

“A country cannot be delegated — the U.K. for example — for European relations with the U.S.,” French President Francois Hollande told reporters. “It is Europe which does that.”

    • Lefty Frizzell

WTF is May up to? You left the EU quite specifically because you didn’t want to have anything to do with the best interests of the EU as a whole – why the fuck would they trust you to negotiate for them? It doesn’t make any sense at all.

      • theblackdog

She knows they hold the cards when it comes to trade negotiations. If the UK doesn’t want the price of goods to shoot through the roof and the value of the GBP to crash and burn they have to play nice with the EU.

So from a libel perspective it would be far safer to refer to Steve Bannon as a fucktard, dickweed, bastardly, piece-of-shit, motherfucker, who resembles his fathers balls. That would be both safe and accurate. At least that’s my legal opinion.

Bannon is anything we say he is until he can prove to our satisfaction he’s not – i say he does such disgusting and perverted things to Pepe that i won’t go into because this a mommy site – ( hint – he wasn’t always green )

    • Sir Shilly VonShillington

Never took a debate class eh kid?

The burden of proof lies upon the one making the positive assertion..

No wonder you children lost in November

      • Tacoclamgenda

In the USA, not so much. Court’s not the same as debate class.

        • Sir Shilly VonShillington

          Neat opinion kid

          • Tacoclamgenda

            Thank you!.

      • The Librarian

In the case of slander, the defendant doesn’t have to prove that the statements he made are true; instead the plaintiff has to prove that the defamatory statements made against him are false. In other words, the burden of proof is on the plaintiff.

      • Christopher Story

I know I’m just feeding the troll, but HRC won the election by 2,860,000 votes. Trump had to settle for 78,000 in the electoral college.

        • IOnlyLikeCats

And they might have been Russians.

          • Bad Tom

            They were absolutely, certainly Russians.

  • Jgb979

Preeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeety sure truth is still an absolute defense to claims of libel, but if you want to get Bannon’s white supremacy on the record in a court of law be my guest.

    • Sir Shilly VonShillington

Did you get your law license in a cracker jack’s box?

      • Jgb979

        Fiddle faddle.

        • Sir Shilly VonShillington

          Nice!

        • Tacoclamgenda

I like that stuff although not as good as Cracker Jacks. Not sure where I’d place Poppy Cock.

          • John Resistant Tovarich Smith

Somewhere between Trump and Milo Snuffleupagus.

  • Sir Shilly VonShillington

Bannon, as a private citizen, does have a strong case. I am sure Nancy’s husband can pay the damages

    • Marion in Savannah

You seem lost. Breitfart is that way, and Stormfront is over there…

      • Sir Shilly VonShillington

        Nice “”argument “”” fayget

        • Tacoclamgenda

Oh, Mr. VonShill,. I think you misunderstood, Marion in Savannah wasnt tying to argue but noticed you are lost and was trying to be helpful.

        • Lance Thrustwell

          Do I detect a troll?

Edit: and yes, there is something wrong with being “prowhite.”

        • IOnlyLikeCats

Yes there is, actually. People who are human are prohuman.

          • Sir Shilly VonShillington

Only humans I know are white

          • IOnlyLikeCats

Being white is only possible because of a genetic malfunction. C: I hope you’re ginger with blue eyes because then everything about you is an accident of nature. Have a nice day.

          • Lance Thrustwell

      • Tacoclamgenda

        Is he close enough?

  • Paperless Tiger

Very good, Nancy. I wish HRC had called them white supremacists instead of mincing words with ‘deplorables’. That backfired. Just tell it like it is, and let the public forum thrash out the details.

  • elviouslyqueer

    STFU & PTFU, SMOTI.

  • C4TWOMAN

    ” As a public figure, ”

This is the distinction lost on the gamergater/alt-right troll crowd. Or, considering many of them are “Anonymous” wannbes at 8chan, they do know. That’s why most attacks are anonymous–they know if they were identified what they are doing is indefensible. Same for the alt-right conspiracy loons stalking victims as “fake actors”, or some shit. Being a target of a crime or even posting with your real name in public DOES NOT make you a public figure. At the most those people are “limited public figures”(? think that’s the right term). In no way does the public have a right to know every detail of their lives and, yes, targeting private people can get you successfully sued.

The problem, as I see it, is the legal profession hasn’t caught up. We have lawyer farms to DMCA your ass into the next galaxy because of the Internet. We still don’t have lawyers lining up to pursue cyber harassment even though it’s a growing problem for adults and has cost them employment. Yeah, we should protect “the children”, but that’s an extension of protecting everyone–it’s just children are MORE at risk.

    • HazooToo

We need cyber-harassment teams to exist yesterday, in law enforcement also. Call the police about someone threatening to kill or rape you directly to your face, you may get help. Call them about hundreds of messages on the internet threatening to kill and rape you and your whole family, and you get a shrug and a “What do you want me to do about it? It’s just the internet.”

  • gamera23

Googled “stupidest man internet” and stuff about Hoft was the top 16 results. And only a few were from Wonkette. Then after a YouTube video using that title, the barrage continued. Evidence is piling up that this is not an insult – merely stating widely accepted fact.

  • o’look Skwerl!

    Legal brief.
    Bannon v. Pelosi
Court of Internet Trolls – United States (COITUS) (2017)

Facts: Nancy Pelosi called President Steve Bannon a “White Supremacist,” and he is super-angry! Butthurt is defined on in the dictionary as “an excessive or unjustifiable feeling of personal offense or resentment.” Upon which the Stupidest Man on the Internet claimed that Steve Bannon was super butthurt and should petition the court for relief.

Issue: Can an avowed white-supremacist be called a “white supremacist” under rule 127 the Internet?

Decision: Yes. Nazis should be called out and if nearby, punched.

Reasons: Justice Giantnards1289 wrote for the majority: “Guy’s a douche canoe and a fucking white supremacist. He openly admits it. Fuck him!”

Dissent: Justice Jesuslivesinme dissented: “You libtards are so mean. Trump won the election fair and square, you’ll have another chance in four years. Calm down.
    Jesus Saves from Hell!”

Counter dissent: Justice BeaverLog76: “Oh fuck off you festering cunt.”
The counter dissent was upfisted by all the other justices.

    • CindyinEncinitas

I can’t wait to see the sur reply.

  • Marion in Savannah

We’ve got a Stormfronter here who’s trying as hard as he can to make it into “Dear Shit Fer Brains” this week. It’s not terribly clever, however. Weak. Sad.

    • Lance Thrustwell

He’s kinda lurking though. Those types are always hit-and-run, because they can’t argue anything coherently or at length.

    • HazooToo

Is it the one on the Nice Time article?

    • shastakoala

I’m stalking Dok. He just took care of it. Dok says thanks.

  • OrG

Looks like a nazi to me.Punch him too.

  • MamaBrown

I don’t know what their problem is. I thought all these knuckedraggers loved straight talk? I thought they mocked “snowflakes” who needed “safe spaces”? So why the whinging? Take your lumps like the red blooded super masculine XYY type you are. Or shut the fuck up.

  • PubOption

SMOTI, if you’re attempting a combover, like your vainglorious leader, the hair has to be combed over the bald patch, not away from it.

  • BreakingDeadMen

I think the suit is a good idea. I’d love to see all the exhibits that Pelosi could get into evidence and put on the record. Sherman, set the Internet Wayback Machine to Breitbart!

    • Bad Tom

Pull on your hip waders, Dr. Peabody!

      • BreakingDeadMen

Never fear, Sherman, I have the antidote to bullshit with me

  • Jim Hoft again?!? THAT Miss Thing just needs to go away…like, forever so we never have to hear about her or her Gateway Pundit ever again.

    • BouncyFlyer

#payuphoft He needs to do that for Editrix first, then he should go away.

      • True! I forget that Miss Hoft is a welsher too. My bad.

  • Marceline

Bannon has the same healthy look Andrew Breitbart had and that gives me hope.

  • whitroth

Bannon is a white supremicist, no quotes around it.

Please, please Mr. Bannon, sue me. Of course, I gets to countersue….

“Many years from now”? Screw that.

“And I hope that you die
    And your death’ll come soon
    I will follow your casket
    In the pale afternoon
And I’ll watch while you’re lowered
    Down to your deathbed
And I’ll stand over your grave
‘Til I’m sure that you’re dead.”
    – Masters of War, by Nobel Prize winner Bobby Zimmerman

    • Cliff Hendroval

“Well I hope I don’t die too soon

I pray the Lord my soul to save

Yes I’ll be a good boy, I’m trying so hard to behave

Because there’s one thing I know, I’d like to live

      long enough to savour

That’s when they finally put you in the ground

I’ll stand on your grave and tramp the dirt down”

“Tramp The Dirt Down” by Elvis Costello, who lost the Best New Artist Grammy to A Taste Of Honey of “Boogie Oogie Oogie” fame.

      • JustDon’tSayPeriod.Period!

OTOH, Elvis is still relevant to the music scene. Taste of Honey doesn’t even come up in a rousing game of Trivial Pursuit.

        • Courser_Resistance

I remember a very titilating album cover from the 70’s and that’s about it. Don’t remember a thing about their music, though Boogie Oogie Oogie, does ring a very faint bell.

The Alt-Right wants you to know that their problems with minorities are over ethics in videogame journalism, not racism.

  • going4baroque

As shown in the recent election, labeling a political opponent with an egregious trait or ideology is just the thing that will win the day. That is so 2016. Take the time and describe behaviors, lazy politicians. Fascist this, Nazi that, White Nationalist for that other, And Hitler is so mindless – let’s just call everyone we are opposed to “Charles Manson” – I believe that is a term for a universal enemy of the good that both left and right would agree to, hell it is a thing that even Charlie himself would heartily endorse.

  • Tio_Doidinho

I’m pretty sure I saw Jim Hoft @ the Eagle in NYC sometime in late November. He’s even uglier in person. If I see him again I’ll remember to ask him to #paythefuckup.

    That is all.

    • It’s so lame when men like Hoft go to a leather bar dressed in button down shirts AND glasses.

  • Marceline

Jim Hoft is determined to hold on to that “Stupidest Man on the Internet” title until the day Satan calls him home.

    • mancityRed6

      “uh..no. he’s not coming here.”
      -Satan

“I really thought Heaven would be nicer.”
        “It is. You’re not there.”
        “But I iz a Republican.”
        “Trust me.”

  • Eric Boyer

Calling Jim Hoft the stupidest man on the internet leaves Todd Starnes behind. Sad.

  • goonemeritus

Nancy doesn’t give a fuck and nor should anyone else.

  • Jim dear, it is not actually libel when it is actually true.
    Just so you know!

  • Jack Tenhet

Actually, when it’s in print, it’s libel. When it’s spoken, it’s slander. Also, to sue for either you have to prove damages, that means loss of money or property. Bannon is a White Supremacist. Did I just cost him money or property? Did I just damage his “brand”? Nope. That’s not how it works. I hate having to remind these people that none of this is how it actually works.
