Post-Match Pressers
Zlatan (Post-Match Interview)
Jose (Post-Match Press Conference)
Jose: "We didn't score. You don't score, it is not possible to win. Their goalkeeper was good. We needed to score, we needed more time to play. If you played 35-40 minutes in both halves, it is a lot. I think Hull City tried to see where they could go, the way they could behave and tried to see what the referee would allow them to do. They had the feedback and were comfortable to do what they did. I am not critical of that. They are fighting against relegation and every point is gold." Asked by BBC commentator Martin Fisher what upset him about referee Mike Jones' performance: "If you do not know football, you should not have a microphone in your hand."
Ibra: "I did not see any chances where it was difficult for the goalkeeper. It was not a good save from Mata, it was a bad finish. Some saves he made for the cameras."
Marco Silva: "It is a very good result for us against a very good team. We played like a team with great attitude, spirit and character. What we showed tonight again, I am happy. Sometimes you have to suffer in moments but we have to play as a team."

Next Match: Leicester City (A) - KO 16:00 GMT, Sunday 5th February - Premier League Gameweek 24
We travel to Leicester on Sunday to play the Champions. They don't have an awful record this season at home and have only lost 3 times in 11 matches there (Chelsea, Everton and WBA) and even recently beat City 4-2 at home. Their away form is the reason they're floundering in the bottom half of the table (yet to pick up 1 away win in 12 attempts) so don't expect them to be a pushover for us.
Other Matches Chelsea v Arsenal (Sat @ 12:30), Hull City v Liverpool (Sat @ 15:00), Spurs v Boro (Sat @ 17:30), City v Swansea (Sun @ 13:30).

Some Thoughts
Again, some positive stuff first. Credit to Hull, they kept their composure and shape for a lot of that match and, under Marco Silva, if they manage to find some consistently I could see them staying up based on their last few performances against us. Also whilst a lot of people are saying Jakupovic was the MoTM, I think Huddlestone was better. He performed so well for them last night and was a major reason Pogba had to drop back to our own half to pick up the ball.
Now United. There is literally nothing I can claim as a positive from last night. Yes we created some chances with a few minutes of nice football but those moments were vastly overshadowed by a combination of selection and substitutions, individual performances and our best player on the night (Jones) going off with a hammy. Hopefully nothing serious comes of that.
Firstly, selection. I know it's been mentioned a lot but Rashford over Martial has yet to justify itself on that left wing. This calendar year Martial has had more good games than Rashford from the left and Mourinho's insistence that Martial hasn't done enough to win his spot seems to be a bit of a thin argument given the lack of other players to fill his shoes on the left. Rashford seems much more effective as a sub right now and I don't think there's anything wrong with that due to his age. Hopefully Shaw can ease his way back into the team too but he needs to pick up his form before I make an argument for that.
Substitutions. I didn't understand the sub of Rooney on for Carrick. Ignoring the fact that Rooney largely did nothing, it means the entire shape of the team goes as we try to adjust. For large portions of the second half we didn't have a midfield - we had a back-line and a front-line and that was it. As a PES player, it felt like I was playing FIFA. At least I can't call it unrealistic anymore though. Anytime we shanked it forwards and didn't make it stick, it fell to their free central midfielders to carry it away. The Smalling for Jones sub can't be criticised given its an injury but Mata is another odd one for me. He's not been in good form as of late and to bring him into a game that isn't blessed with pace anyway (Ibra, Rooney, Blind etc) seemed a bit odd. Why not bring in players who can stretch the game and find the space?
Individual performances. I'm not going to go through and rail on everyone but hardly anyone turned up last night. It wasn't the fact that they didn't play well that irritated me though and nor was it the fact that hardly anyone seemed to be on the same page with runs away from passes etc. That happens in football - I've had many an afternoon/evening like that myself. What irritated me is the lack of desire I saw from the players - the first half had near enough zero intensity and it was only during the later stages of the second half that I thought they seemed bothered enough to pick up the points.
Statistical nightmare. 85 shots against newly promoted sides this season have resulted in two goals at OT against newly promoted sides. First time in 23 years we've failed to beat two of the newly promoted sides at OT.
Another missed opportunity to close the gap on Top 4. It remains to be seen how many more chances we will be gifted.
