Here's our picks for January 2017's goal of the month, featuring Olivier Giroud's 'scorpion kick' and Wayne Rooney's historic strike

Olivier Giroud, Andy Carroll, Wayne Rooney... Who scored the best Premier League goal in January?

Watch our selection of the top six goals in the video above then scroll down to vote.

Olivier Giroud - ARSENAL 2-0 Crystal Palace

January 2017 began with a bang as Giroud's strike on New Year's Day lit up the Premier League. The Arsenal forward opened the scoring at the Emirates Stadium against Crystal Palace with a sublime and instinctive scorpion-kick finish, leaving goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey with no chance.

Wilfried Zaha - CRYSTAL PALACE 1-2 Swansea

Zaha's goal may have made no difference to the game as they were beaten by Swansea, but the Palace winger's effort will still live long in the memory for all those who saw it at Selhurst Park. Martin Kelly's cross was slightly behind the Ivory Coast international, but he showed excellent reflexes to twist his body around and hit a scorching volley home.

Lucas Perez - Bournemouth 3-3 ARSENAL

Perez's opportunities have been few and far between in his debut season at Arsenal, but he showed the quality he has at his disposal with his strike against Bournemouth. Watching the ball drop over his shoulder, the Spaniard struck the sweetest of volleys right into the bottom corner from a tight angle.

Andy Carroll - WEST HAM 3-0 Crystal Palace

Usually better known for his crunching headers, Carroll showed a different side to his game as he acrobatically thumped the ball home from just inside the area with a scissor kick. "That was a perfect goal," said West Ham boss Slaven Bilic. "This was like it was for a book - when you have a page for a great scissors-kick goal you would have it go in a corner and that was exactly what he did."

Wayne Rooney - Stoke 1-1 MANCHESTER UNITED

A momentous goal that made Rooney Manchester United's record goalscorer, the England captain's free-kick was also a quality strike in its own right. Staring at defeat in the dying moments, his unstoppable, curling effort nicked a potentially vital point for his side.

Chris Brunt - WBA 2-0 Sunderland

Brunt showed off all the power he possesses in his left peg in one fell swoop as he smashed home from the edge of the area for West Brom against Sunderland after the ball had come back to him off the crossbar.
