4,530 politicians for 2 years!
We are (as far as we can tell) the worlds largest online simulated government. We host elections, write bills and have party politics all to simulate the US government. We have an active press sub that writes articles, 7 political parties that run in elections, 400 active players with over 3000 subscibed. We teach people how the US government works and how to write bills and get them through congressional committees. We also have 6 states that have their own legislators too that pass state bills. We are part of the Model World on Reddit.
Sure!
The Model World was started formally by /u/Timanfya when he created /r/MHoC, the Model House of Commons (British Government). After a year of MHoC, /r/ModelUSGov was created by a different user. ModelUSGov has since grown to be the largest subreddit in the Model World. Other Model countries include /r/cmhoc (canada), /r/iksdagen (sweden) and many more.
Within /r/ModelUSGov is many 'subsubreddits', including the press sub /r/ModelUSPress, Model House of Reps sub, Model Senate sub, Model Supreme Court sub, 6 different state subs, such as /r/ModelNortheaststate, (currently) 6 different party subs which are private for members, and many many more subsubreddits.
Within the main sub, ModelUSGov, Elections are held every 2 to 3 months, the newly elected Representatives or senators can submit legislation to the docket where it will then be posted as a submission on /r/ModelUSGov, following an amendment process and committee vote, then floor vote the legislation follows the US system of becoming a bill.
A typical post on /r/ModelUSGov is a submitted bill from a Senator or Congressman and is about that bills current status in whichever house it is currently being debated in. All bills start as a debate on the main sub, so here is an example of that.
As you can see, it is a submitted legislation by Represenative /u/deepfriedstrippers, it is being debated in the comments below and the point of this bill is to overturn another bill which this simulation has passed. (Just a note, Our simulations says everythign before October 2015 is real history in our sim, after october 2015, when our subreddit was made, only our subreddit's history is meta)
I hope that answers your questions, feel free to ask more!
