First time buyer (self.Bitcoin)

Looking to invest 15,000 grand in bitcoin. How much would my money be worth in 6 months from now based on your predictions if bitcoin went up considerably?

Bitcoin could be a good investment (I sure think so) but it's a high-risk one with a volatile price. As such:

  1. Don't invest more than you're willing to lose.
  2. Don't buy in all at once. (I'd suggest dollar-cost averaging over a period of a month or more.)
  3. Don't panic buy or panic sell.
  4. Don't take advice from random strangers on the internet.

In my head bitcoin could easily be worth $9000 even without technological improvements that are available.

Just remember to make a backup of your wallet/'12 word seed'/'paper wallet'

If you don't know how to secure your coins properly your investment will be worth 0. I would be more worried about how to secure my coins then how much they may go up. I have been doing this for a while now and at the end of the day the price will either be more then you can imagine or 0. This is a binary game that only has two outcomes. What I can tell you is when I start to see this much activity in Bitcoin the price jumps up exponentially. The Chinese gov may have delayed the jump for a few weeks but it is still going to happen. I just made my first ever short term price prediction so you can tell me how right or wrong I am in a few weeks.

What's your idea of going up "considerably", 100%, 200%, more?

Based on my in-depth financial calculations, if the price goes to $2000 in 6 months then your investment will be worth over $30 grand. By the way, you could probably do these kinds of estimates yourself with a calculator.

buy a hundred dollars worth, put it on a desktop wallet (phone wallet can be tricky,not because the apps are bad just fumbling around with a small screen, copy and pasting addresses, getting tx fees where you want them) desktop app or secure browser based best start IMO

Dont buy coffee with it. buy a tshirt or music from an independent muscian. fiddle around with it at first. you should do some research before jumping all in at once. there will be problems, sometimes long confirm times, sometime negative volotility. use the tech so you have some personal experience with it, not just taking others people words on faith or FOMO in to something you havent actually used.

Do not download the entire blockchain. Do that later if you want but use the consumer tools that are available.

if you believe in the technology after using it then scale into it. thousand a month is fairly aggressive. if you buy the first thousand at 999 you;ll probably want to buy the second at 1100 more easily than buying another thousand at 880 unless you actually believe there is a use case and have a long term outlook then you'll realize the difference between 1000 and 500 doesnt really matter.

someone mentioned a binary bet and yes it is, i agree. if somehow it becomes the world currency it wont matter if you average price is 500 1000 or 2500 and it wont happen overnight anyway.

I feel very comfortable asserting that you should experience bitcoin with money that doesn;t matter. You wouldn't buy a $15000 car without test driving it and you know that's a necessary but losing proposition for the rest of your life. So that's my rambling too much information two cents.
