Lots of talk right now about the "anti-Trump spam" on the front page from all the various anti-Trump subreddits. Conspiracy theories that we're all being funded by CTR and that we're all in this together coordinating to get around the reddit filters. As funny as that is, it begs the question.. what should the larger anti-Trump community do with itself?
It's clear there's a hell of a lot of energy, because all these subs have popped up. There's some merit in trying to consolidate power into a single voice, but I also believe that due to reddit's format, some of the nuance gets lost. It's like trying to "mainstream" kids in the education system. Sure, it might be more efficient, but it doesn't necessarily mean that each kid's needs are met.
For example, /r/fuckthealtright is certainly anti-Trump, but it's primary objective is the altright itself. /r/EnoughTrumpSpam is geared heavily towards calling out /r/The_Donald on their BS. /r/Impeach_Trump is focused on news pertaining to just that. Other subs like /r/IndivisibleGuide or /r/BlueMidterm2018 are very action-oriented. This sub was originally made to try to tie together the various factions in the anti-Trump community, including any Republican anti-Trump subreddits like /r/NeverTrump.
All of these different subs really do have different goals, but they share a hell of a lot of overlap.
Consolidating everyone might improve the volume of our collective voice, but it would also erode at the nuanced goals each of these different subs has. I'm not sure consolidating is necessarily worth it.
Thoughts from the anti-Trump community on this?
