No one likes it!

It looks like something vectorized automatically

Yes, and before computers, we did this sort of thing by hand! Posterization is probably the better term for reducing the colors and shading so drastically, like Andy Warhol used to do.

Probably used the limit tool in gimp/photoshop and then copied it.

No you didn't, you used a bitmap and traced it through a program like Adobe Flash or Photoshop then you exported that image and painted ontop of it

Hell worse yet you fucking traced someone who traced the original picture

IT*s easy to see the vectors fucking up in the scars, with unnatural angles and pixels

I'll get downvoted because most people don't get this but you really should learn to draw/paint in a non-tracing kind of way, tracing stalls you

This subreddit CONSTANTLY upvotes people that fun a production photo or screencap through a filter, then "paint" it.

I wouldn't say it stalls you per se. More of an ethical thing. Tracing and passing it off as your own work? Shitty. Then again, if you're practicing how to draw a squid and you trace one a million times for practice, you might find you can draw a squid from memory a bit easier in the future (Drawing is like going to the gym, it's a shit ton of muscle memory and repetition) There are better ways to go about that than tracing though...

Tracing has it's place though. On a tight as deadline for an editorial job and really don't have the freaking time to work out a pose from scratch using your photo reference? Fuck it. Pop that sum bitch under some tracing paper and get the basics down to save your self some time. Did you draw something and it's really nice but you bitched up some other element of the composition and you need to move or change something? Tracing paper.

I must note though, tracing with the intent to pass off a finished work as something you made is generally going to be obvious, and likely tacky looking. Photos fuck with dimensions, they inherently flatten and distort the subject, so if you painstakingly trace it, your "work" will have the same issues.

If you are painstakingly tracing another artists work (painting, drawing, etc) It will again be obvious because it will be stiff. Most folks who trace to pass off work white knuckle the shit out of it and you can spot it a mile away.

As somebody who cuts a lot of stencils, all I could see was "PHOTOSHOP THRESHOLD!!!!"

THIS, i used to make stencils in high school. All those years of fucking around with contrasting filters on Photoshop, this one sticks out like a sore thumb. Its not even a good cut of it either...
Took me a long time to figure out that the best stencils were all hand drawn, aint no computer program for talent.

Yeah the Tickled Pink one was that one I saw and liked, I wanted to try and draw it for myself. didnt use any trace or bitmap or exporting stuff. sorry if it came off as me trying to pass of my own original idea or anything, credit to the Tickled Pink one

A man vectorized an image and applied a filter to it on Photoshop.

the lack of watermarking may lead to a man's work being stolen

No one will steal this, I promise.

No one loves it.

As a side note, to save you pens and a lot of time, invest in some small head brushes 0, 00, 000 and 1. Grab yourself a pot of rotring ink, and watch the pen lines disappear when filling in large spaces.

ooo thank you! those pen lines were irking me, I will have a look at what you suggest :)

No problem dude. A nice 200gsm paper to make sure there's no bleeding, and ink on brush is a lovely combination. All the best, keep up the good work!

Always stretch your paper too. Videos on YouTube, it's really easy. Apologies for jumping to conclusions A-Lamar, I didn't get your reference earlier. My bad.
