I haven't talked to my father very much since the election, but I knew he was a DT supporter. I was hopeful that, after seeing the shitshow going on since the inauguration, he would see how very wrong he was. I sent him a text message today:

I sure hope you see now that this disgusting orange puppet is a fascist, and a threat to everything America stands for...

I don't know what I expected, really, but this is what I got:

Don't jump the gun son. He just got in office. He's done more in a week than the Muslim did in eight years. Surely you don't think Hillary should be there.

Anyway I started composing a reply, but it got too long and messy for a text. So I thought I'd put it here. Anyone with other points to make, either about the reality of Obama's presidency, what HRC actually had planned for us and what a crock of made-up bullshit pizzagate is, or what a disaster and threat der Trumpenfuhrer is, please chime in.

I can not believe you actually buy that garbage. Dude pulled us out of Dubya's recession - the worst one since the Great Depression. Wall St reforms to keep that kind of thing from happening again. Got the auto industry back on its feet. He got Bin Laden. And a whole. Lot. More. Did all this and kept his composure and dignity in spite of racists who made up lies about his religion and place of birth (including the biggest fraud and liar of them all, DT) and the GOP obstructing and throwing sand in the gears every step of the way. Helped millions get healthcare, even though so many Republican-run states sabotaged the ACA.

So don't give me this nonsense about him not getting things done - you couldn't be more wrong.

Now we have this thin-skinned man-baby who starts his term by lying to the world about his pitiful inauguration crowd. Could he be any more petty? He has nominated a cabinet full of racists, conspiracy theorist nutjobs, Russian sycophants, Islamophobes, climate change deniers, and billionaire CEOs: DeVos, Tillerson, Mnuchin, Pruitt, Puzder, Mulvaney, Price, & Sessions.

He put a dangerous white supremacist, Steve Bannon, on the National Security Council and ousted the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Director of National Intelligence. This is a guy who wants a giant war, and is working to make it happen.

I could go on and on, but I'm out of steam for tonight. Maybe my fellow redditors here will be kind enough to link to more about DT's conflicts of interest, his constitutional violations, his refusal to release his taxes or to fully separate from his businesses, the looming disaster of destroying the EPA, the "disposal" of public lands, the stupidity of the border wall, the damage caused by the unconstitutional immigrant ban, how ISIS is thrilled by these divisive policies, probably another 5 dozen things I just can't think of right now, and of course under it all the lies lies lies.

I love you Dad, but you've lost touch with reality. This guy is the single biggest danger this country has faced in my lifetime. That's no exaggeration.
