So I visited SRS for the first time the other day. I was expecting a sub where the users cherry-picked legitimately awful-yet-upvoted comments and unfairly used them to paint Reddit users as a bunch of troglodytes. Boy was I wrong.
The majority of the targeted posts were eminently reasonable. Things like [not actual quotes] "Men should have equal reproductive and parenting rights" or "men also face institutional discrimination in eg the criminal justice system" or "non-whites can also be racist toward whites or x non-white group" or "free speech is more important than hurt feelings" etc. etc.
To be fair to the SRS users, about one out of ten posts they highlight contains a real examples of bigotry, typically involving Muslims. Other posts are not so much hateful as un-pc, eg locker room talk about women or a complaint about a common female behavior (women do the same to men). Certain American nationalist sentiments rooted in ignorance of other countries are also rightly mocked. But again, nine-tenths of the posts there, though presented in a sort of "Omg I can't believe this was upvoted!" fashion, are entirely reasonable.
The other thing I noticed is that they don't seem to respond to logic. Everything there is based on an emotional reaction to what they feel should be right. Their "rebuttals" consistent mostly of snark, eg "white males are totes opprezzed lol!" Honestly they sound like a bunch of teenage girls. Perhaps they are.
