KUWABARA Tsukasa

About Me

Born in Saitama Prefecture, Jan. 21st 1970.
I lived in Leeds, UK for around 2 years with my family when I was 6. Because of this, I had to cram 6 years of Elementary school into 4, which caused me to be bad at Kanji & Hiragana stroke order even to this day. In Elementary 5th grade, an event occurred that caused me to become extremely interested in the idea of "Social Construction of Reality."
In the spring of 1985, I entered Kyushu International University High School. In 88, I graduated from there, and entered Kumamoto University's Faculty of Letters, Department of Regional Science.
From April 89, I was in the Japanese Folklore course to study the history of ”Home remedy”, however from 91, due to the beneficial influence of Prf. Hiroaki Taguchi, I decided to change to the Sociology course instead. This is when I started the study of Medical Sociology through Interactionist approach.
In 93, I graduated and then went straight into the University's post graduate course as an auditing student for 1 year. During this time, I focused all my energy on the study of Symbolic Interactionism, especially the works of Herbert Blumer.
In 94, I entered the graduate school of Tohoku University and completed my course work without degree in March 99. Since then, I have been influenced especially by Mamoru Funatsu and Naohito Tokugawa.

I specialize in Sociology, specifically Symbolic Interactionism. At present I am pursuing my interest in the theorizing of communication, human relations and consensus using the works of such academics as Blumer, Tamotsu Shibutani and T. J. Scheff who are known members of the prestigious Chicago School of Sociology.
