Or perhaps left wing politics used to be actually pretty decent and was hi-jacked in recent years by identity politics and narcissism.

Then some other people obviously found fun in arguing against and making fun of them and thus the opposite spectrum was created.

I mean, I browsed 4chan for a decade and then it became a cesspool in 2012+ from the constant incessant posting about Feminists, SJWs and so on. It was amusing at first but then I realized that the demographic was shifting.

Not to mention one of my favorite political commentators before he died was Christopher Hitchens who was a left-leaning person. And no one could call him politically correct. But he had this to say:

Anyway, what you swiftly realise if you peek over the wall of your own immediate neighborhood or environment, and travel beyond it, is, first, that we have a huge surplus of people who wouldn’t change anything about the way they were born, or the group they were born into, but second that “humanity” (and the idea of change) is best represented by those who have the wit not to think, or should I say feel, in this way.

The problem is, those that have gotten into anti-SJW bullshit will fail to see that this paragraph speaks about them as well.
