CNN's Jake Tapper on Thursday offered a one-word response to President Trump's chief strategist Steve Bannon, who said that the media should "keep its mouth shut."
"A reminder that the president's top aide just told The New York Times that press should keep its mouth shut," Tapper said during CNN's "The Lead."
"No," Tapper added, with a chuckle.
“The media should be embarrassed and humiliated and keep its mouth shut and just listen for awhile,” Bannon told the newspaper.
“I want you to quote this,” Bannon continued, “The media here is the opposition party. They don’t understand this country. They still do not understand why Donald TrumpDonald TrumpReport: Trump considering executive orders on security Trump: Waterboarding isn't torture Trump calls Madonna 'disgusting' MORE is the president of the United States.”
