Subreddit of the week: /r/SocialistRA (Socialist Rifle Association)

Anarchism is a social movement that seeks liberation from oppressive systems of control including but not limited to the state, capitalism, racism, sexism, speciesism, and religion. Anarchists advocate a self-managed, classless, stateless society without borders, bosses, or rulers where everyone takes collective responsibility for the health and prosperity of themselves and the environment.
If you are not yet familiar with anarchism, check out /r/Anarchy101.

/r/Anarchism is for discussing topics relevant to anarchism. The moderation structure and policies are not intended to be an example of an anarchist society; an internet forum is not a society. I know its fun to mock the alt right for being ineffectual LARPers, but I think it would be smarter to take them slightly more seriously. They've proven they can impact the real world if they meme hard enough, and they have a certain savviness regarding online warfare. We ignore them at our own peril. Those of you with the skills and resources should really be spending as much time as you can disrupting their forums, subverting their memes, and destroying the lives of careless fascist organizers.

I agree with this mostly, just with a slight caveat. If you know, in your heart, that you're not going to be doing things off the internet, or you're simply not able to for whatever reason, fight online. Definitely. But if you can do things in the real world, don't get burnt out arguing with these assholes on the internet. Express your thoughts, but don't get burnt out on here, when there's IRL organizing and work to be done.
And don't buy their line that they memed Trump into office. Trump told a lot of workers what they wanted to hear, and that, for the most part, is what got him into office. It wasn't frogs.
edit : Although I do find it mildly interesting that only seconds after Spencer referred to what many /pol/acks now consider to be a manifestation of the Egyptian god "Kek" as the cartoon character "Pepe", he got smacked on video. Mildly interesting.

Also important to note we don't know for sure what got Trump into office exactly.
We do know that two parties - who are completely and totally managed by those who represent million and billionaires and US exceptionalism and war-profiteering and destabilization of other countries and Zionism and Western capitalist expansion and oil and expanding prison/slavery systems and the main media channels, including networks and cable "NEWS", etc. - control the entirety of the electoral process.
We know that MOST of the electorate is neither a democrat or republican, we know that the US has the highest rate of federal disenfranchisement and the most fraud and abuse of the entire electoral process on the national and local levels.
I'm not entirely sure what got him into office, maybe the appropriate numbers of people within the appropriate districts that count the most for the electoral college to decide in his favor really did vote for him. Even if they did, the process isn't legitimate or worth talking about as though it is. I was convinced the CIA was all about Hillary, but I was wrong... or maybe they really were for Hillary and there is a shake up between FBI and CIA ... or maybe RUSSIA!!! Who the fuck knows? Either way, they'll expand aggressively the stuff that Obama slowed down moderately (if you can call bombing seven countries and killing civilians all over the globe with drones, slowing down moderately)... and Hillary or not, the US has been circling China and Russia and Iran for decades. The stuff we're up against is fucking massive.
All of this is to say, yeah, don't buy that anyone memed Trump into office. And also to say, the internet doesn't have much to do with or affect on what's at play.
What we do in the streets and building our own local communities of support and resistance and survival in the real world are far more important than fucking with shit-for-brains fuckwads on the internet (many of whom are paid plants with someone's hand up their necks).

this seems like a necessary caveat. no one can just stare into the abyss all day.

It's not just the "alt-right" we are fighting,it is capitalist fascist white supremacy as a whole. To underestimate our oppenents would be a grave error on our parts.
Memewar is already on,and I see memes as an evolution in propaganda, not really much of anything else.Being that I also practice chaos magick,I also believe even if these nerds had the collective will power to make something like this happen, then we also have the collective will power to send it toppling to the dirt.
Fight with all the weapons at your disposal, and remember a sharp mind is the deadliest weapon of all.

I actually don't think their online activity matters that much. On this weeks This American Life, they interviewed people who were in Washington DC both to support and protest the inauguration. It was actually very good, I recommend you listen to it.
The first act was about the Deploraball. They speak to one young woman who attended and she says the racist memes (and indeed the entire Trump campaign) were all just trolling. She's confronted directly with the video of Richard Spencer throwing up the nazi salute and she says he did it because it would be funny to get a rise out of liberals. When asked about the various policies Trump might implement that will hurt people, she says he's just trolling too.
That's what they really think. They think this election was about offensive tweets. Nothing about the economy or corruption or anything else the working class is concerned about. That's how out of touch they are.
Later in the episode they talk to a woman who works in a factory in Michigan. She voted for Trump because, she says, he was the first presidential candidate in her lifetime to speak directly about her concerns. She hopes that he'll bring jobs back to her ailing community, where dozens of factories have closed and thousands are out of work. The twitter trolls are going to vote for Trump in 2020 pretty much no matter what but factory workers like this woman are not going to follow suit when he fails to fix their lives.

If he succeeds in fixing their lives, will you vote for him?

Idk i agree with most of what you're saying but I wonder about the effectiveness of sort of online activism, like, should it be a priority to disrupt their online forums? I dont see why but im sure others see it differently.

Rape jokes are not appropriate. Please reconsider your words.

I removed this post because of the implied rape/sexual violence. Please be careful about that.

Ahh yes, go to their forums...read their post and subvert as much as possible, just ignore their attempts at red pilling, don't read their fake propaganda comrades, it's all lies! Convince them anarchy can exists without becoming anarcho-capitalism!
Ignore meme magic and Kek, it doesn't exists, it's all a joke, that's all it is...nothing more....
