Then what's the fucking difference between all and front page? Jesus Christ these people are retarded.

This is what happens when you start with a conclusion and then try to devise a premise. What they want to do is block what they consider objectionable material (anything that they don't believe politically), so now have to invent a contrived method of doing it to make it look like what they're actually doing is giving you what you want.

Fuck /u/spez

Honestly, stop destroying this already destroyed place with your stupidity.

I use r/all specifically to expose myself to different views. How fucking stupid.

I'm just sick of only seeing political echo chambers come up on r/all whichever side they're on. It's not safespacification. A lot of people are just tired of seeing bullshit from both sides all of the time.

Yeah like every single non American user.

You can filter out subreddits you don't like from /r/all, nobody's telling you that you must see content you don't want to. That's different from everyone, by default and with no choice, being "protected" from content they might dislike.

The admins have been very heavily pushing reddit into a place of segregated communities that don't talk to each other.

I think it's positive he's there actually saying and recognising the "lowest common denominator" element of Reddit.

[–]Tumblr_PrivilegeMAN 0 ポイント1 ポイント  (0子コメント)

What qualifies someone to be the arbiter of lowest common denominator? Who gets to choose what is the acceptable food for the groupthink? I would bet money that "progressive liberal" is what will be pushed. Because liberal inclusiveness means shutting down and silencing all "wrong" viewpoints. The marketplace of ideas is what Reddit was designed for, the people choose what rises to the top. Except now all the wrong people and all the wrong ideas keep getting exposure, the admins must intervene because they know whats best for the unwashed masses of Reddit.

Didn't they already add filters, the people who want their safe spaces will get them

I could be wrong here, but I think what he is actually referring to is a beta program they were testing last summer where new accounts were asked to identify their interests and then had subs suggested to them based on that, instead of automatically being subscribed to the current defaults. It has been long discussed that the default system sucks. As far as /r/all, any changes to that would be pretty dumb since they already introduced filtering and the whole point of /r/all is to show you what other people enjoy, not necessarily yourself.

Surely the stuff I want to see is in just the subs i'm subscribed to. Why allow any content from subs i'm not subscribed to show up on the front page?

Note that /r/all/new (last time I looked) shows you all subreddits, including those who exclude themselves from being visible on /r/all.

I hope this behaviour continues.
