Cutting it pretty fine in terms of getting checked in and through airport security in 45 minutes aren't you?

Also, the queues for the train at Old Trafford are just stupid unless you miss the last 5/10 minutes of the match. Depends on whether you're prepared to do that.

I know. I think since I have 2 and a half hours since the match ends till the gate closes I should at least be able to grab an uber if I just walk down to the Tesco. That way I will be at the airport by 6:15-6:30 at the latest and then have plenty of time for security. I will have my boarding pass on my anyway so should be able to go straight to security instead of mucking about.

Best case scenario we are winning by 2 or 3 goals and I can head out early. I have been to Old Trafford loads of times so not missing much, never had to take the train out after the match so this would be my first time.

How would you recommend getting back to Piccadilly? I'm going to the Bournemouth game (from down South) Kick off is 12.30 and I'm not sure what time to get my train home. Was thinking of 5:15 to be reeeeeally safe!

grabbing the train outside of old trafford (the station is called Manchester United Football Ground) is the easiest. As jp-dizzle said thought the queues are long depending on what time you are looking to get there. If you have time then you could hang about Old Trafford and catch the 3rd train. 3rd train usually leaves an hour after the match ends.

You could also walk a bit away and take the trains from Trafford Bar.
