I'll verify Dan from San Diego's claims (self.Bitcoin)

I'm from San Diego, I'm a Bitcoin enthusiast, solar enthusiast, and could use a free basket of produce. If Dan is who he says he is, I'd like to know him. If he's not I'll take the sweet, sweet karma instead. I'm not betting any Bitcoin though. I'll be back home next week. What do you guys think?

**Edit: I responded to u/dan_from_san_diego post offering to have someone come visit and asked him to PM me his address. I'll wait and see what happens.

**Edit: I got a response from Dan but now people think I'm him so this is the best evidence I could come up with. I'm currently backpacking around Central America and here's a pic of me in front of my hostel in Belize City.

why can't you post pictures of all this farmland you own? the containers?

the only pictures you've posted online don't verify a damn thing. it took /u/aiakos all of 6 hours to verify his face and location. why can't you verify anything?

There is literally no reason why you can't just post a picture to verify any of your claims. That is unless they're not true.

Yes, it is a medium-con. I invented it. I propose something that is utterly fantastical...but "just" within the realm of possibility. Then, because it is on that fine grey line...many people are intrigued.

Here's my concern.

You're guiding someone out to a farmland by himself. You haven't proven ownership of anything. So he very well likely could be walking onto anyone's land.

People get shot for trespassing.

It would be irresponsible for you not to prove that you own the land before sending people from the internet out there.

I am curious to know your opinion of our location as well. I am planning to build a house on this first location you will be visiting. Maybe take some pictures of the land and surrounding mountains so people here can also see how beautiful Borrego Springs is. I feel that very few people have ever heard of it. And since you're there...maybe take some photos of the desert blooms that are happening right now.

I told you where it is in your PM. Let me know if you are really there and I will tell you how to get onto the land. You may need a 4x4 because of the recent rain. I have not been since the rains and they often make the road very muddy.

If you don't have a 4x4 then it is about a half mile walk from DiGiorgio Rd.

Can you do me a favor when you get there? There is a water shed on the neighbor's land. Can you take a picture of the flat land near his shed for me? Thanks!

Oh...I have another request. This one is gonna sound a little crazy. And don't feel obligated to do it. But..in the northwest corner of my land there is sometimes an old homeless man who kinda lives in the pIle of junk in that corner.

He is very old. He is not dangerous in any way.

During the day he will not be there. If you're comfortable, can you look at this pile and let me know if there is any camping stuff or pots there? Again don't feel obligated. Just...no one has been there since the rains.

see my post above, keep in mind Dan has yet to prove a damn thing. it would very easy to take a picture to verify any single one of his grandiose claims. he's more than likely a pathological liar.

People usually don't live in piles of junk on farmland unless there is very good reason to be there.

Worst case scenario: You're on a scout mission for some grow op or drug lab. In this worst case scenario your life is in danger.

Save yourself the struggle go to the Terra Server and pull up the Satellite imagery of the area. There is nothing there. Imagery from 2007-2016 is available. 8 Properties changed hands in the last 3 years from 40-100 Acres NONE in the area he specifies.(must be hard for those trucks delivering to those 30 Hospitals huh Dan?)

Greenhouses are glass airtight structures and you go through 2 clean rooms before entering.

His company is building a "a system which uses the cameras to zoom in and outline a user's personal crops on their app;"

Farm has a well on site connected to an huge underground lake, he uses this to cool the entire farm.

Greenhouses have efficient HVAC systems to cool these systems during the day.

His business custom grows produce and delivers it for free, you pay half of what the grocery stores charge.

His business has a deal with 30 hospitals for weekly deliveries, 2000 people have signed up for his service.

He lived in China for several years and can 'kinda' speak the language

Greenhouses can grow from 44F to 110F in almost any wavelength, humidity, nutrient mix, etc.

He owns several biotech companies

He's a mathematician who went to school for 'quantum organic chemistry'

His farm is running an s9 miner

He worked for 5 years at the UCSD super computer center

He's a physician who once wanted to practice outpatient surgery in a his own clinic in Mexico

He has a lab at UCSD

He's managed to do all of this yet can only provide 3 pictures of 'his greenhouses'. The only pictures he has ever posted on reddit are these 3 'greenhouse' photos and a couple of pictures of some weed he bought. His 'company' has zero web presence, wait doesn't he have several companies? All unverified. His lab at UCSD is unverified. He is unable to verify anything via the web and instead asks people to bet him when they doubt his ridiculous stories.

Don't forget the special solar panels 33% efficient though he was only measuring 31% efficiency made by the company he refused to name but claimed had made the panels for the solar plane that flew around the world. Considering anything over 24% is a world record..his claims are moist and smelly bullshit

I never worked in the Super Computer Center for 5 years. I worked with labs who had projects associated with the Super Computer Center.

Also, re-read the post where you say I claim to be a physician. Make sure you understand what you read.

Could this be the farm? Google maps 33.265159, -116.328588. Lot size of about 44 acres measured in Google Earth Pro (measured around the fence). Dan said in an earlier post:

There is a house or complex to the west that is about half a mile from Borrego Valley Rd (not DiGiorgio Rd, maybe Dan remembered incorrectly?). In older photos it did not have the solar panels, tennis court, and pool that it has now.

Terraserver has pictures that show construction on both places was in progress by Jun 2014. No construction in 2012. No data in between.

I want to believe! I trawled through Dan's comment history and I'm placing my bet on real.

But why would Dan be so specific?! Doesn't he know there are psychos out there on the internet? Why didn't you just take some detailed pictures and reap the sweet sweet karma?

Yeah I see that parcel is owned by "Desert Green Solar Farm LLC". Some press releases about the project, for example here. Anyway... I should probably stop trying to armchair sleuth!

Terraserver is being wonky and I don't see any newer data. The latest I see is 2016-04-19 and it doesn't load properly.
