yeah the sheer weapon variety makes up for the not so good combat mechanics. playing as a melee/unarmed only character is super fun because you wont get bored of using the same thing like in fallout 4. especially with perks like Slayer and Weapons like two-step goodbye and what not.

I envy you, getting to play NV for the first time. Don't get me wrong, 1, 2, 3, and 4 are really, really great, but NV is my favourite game of all time. Good god, how unreasonably much do I love New Vegas. Never had a game crash, fuck up, stutter or glitch out on me so much in my life. Still consider it a high water mark on the level of Super Mario 3 or Pac Man. I'm not joking. NV is my digital Crazy Ex, except we still really get along.

You are in for a great (if frustrating --it was very rushed) ride. GET THE DLCS! Seriously, full DLC NV is to vanilla NV as NV is to FO3 --just leagues better.

Have fun Six. Say hi to Benny for all of us.

The DLC is sooo good. I love this game so much despite the unavoidable crash every hour or so.

Screw Benny. wink wink

NO crashes or glitches? Are we playing the same game?

EDIT: Fuck

Never had a game crash, fuck up, stutter or glitch out on me so much in my life.

You may want to reread.

Fuck.

You know how sometimes you read the first part of a sentence and you think you're reading the rest but your brain is actually filling it in?

Haha. Yup, been there Crispy.

And yeah, Fallout: New Vegas: Hot Mess (PS3).

The highs were HIGH, the lows were LOW. No blaming, just sayin'. It was a broken masterpiece.

Just so you know, luck is an unbelievably useful SPECIAL stat to have in nv. At the casinos, you could spend 1 hour and have 40k+ caps from blackjack and some tries at the roulette wheel. Speech can pretty much get you anywhere in the game too. They are so fucking op.

Sorry for the seemingly off topic reply, but I can't help but tell people this

[–]CrispyChickenCrackerThe Institute did nothing wrong 3 ポイント4 ポイント  (4子コメント)

It's easy enough to get money in New Vegas by just selling stuff. I max my luck because criticals are devastating in New Vegan.

[–]viniestpumpkin7 0 ポイント1 ポイント  (2子コメント)

You can get plenty of caps from selling stuff in a reasonable amount of time, but if you want that medicine stick at level 3 you're going to have to use the casinos

[–]CrispyChickenCrackerThe Institute did nothing wrong 0 ポイント1 ポイント  (1子コメント)

iirc, the medicine stick isn't even available at the gunrunners at level 3.

[–]chillgamingAZVault 111 0 ポイント1 ポイント  (0子コメント)

Actually, it is... All the uniques from the gun runners are available at level 1 if you so desire

[–]camycamera"let go, and begin again..." 1 ポイント2 ポイント  (2子コメント)

You can also get loads of caps by playing caravan, especially since it's more skill-based than luck.

[–]viniestpumpkin7 0 ポイント1 ポイント  (1子コメント)

It takes about 5 minutes to get 6000 caps with 8 luck playing blackjack. iirc caravan players don't have as much money and it takes longer to finish right?

[–]camycamera"let go, and begin again..." 0 ポイント1 ポイント  (0子コメント)

Well, I guess what I meant to say that Caravan is a great way to gain a load of money easily early on in the game, before you even get to the strip. Also it is an easy way to bypass the 2000 cap requirement (iirc) to get into the strip, without having to do favors in Freeside.

Wait til you get to the walls of The Strip. That was a really nostalgic moment for me. Despite what everyone might say, you'll find that New Vegas's world is actually really well made and interesting.

I really loved new vegas, I think the combat matters slightly less in Fallout games as so much of it is V.A.T.S based anyway. The speech options in this game were fantastic though, I felt it had a lot more of a comedic edge compared to fallout 3. The city of New Vegas was rich and fun too, probably my favourite city in any fallout game.

I just finished my first play through the other day and immediately started a new campaign with a different character in mind.

Love it.

One of the things I seriously disliked about New Vegas was how easy it was to disqualify yourself from some of the quests, particularly companion quests. For example, some of the prerequisites needed to get Gannon's quests are locations you typically visit before meeting him, so recruiting the elderly Enclave troops becomes impossible.

But New Vegas is still great besides that. Down with the Legion!

[–]camycamera"let go, and begin again..." 4 ポイント5 ポイント  (1子コメント)

Actually, with Gannon, you can still revisit those characters and talk to them again to trigger his quest.

[–]CrispyChickenCrackerThe Institute did nothing wrong 1 ポイント2 ポイント  (0子コメント)

Yeah, worked with me for Raul when you had to talk to those NCR guys.

You shouldn't be able to do all the quests in one play through though, you want your next character build to have several quests to do which your first was unable to do due to their choices. Basic rpg stuff.

What's more, some companions may permanently refuse to join you... and you won't even notice!

Veronica, for example, if you say you "know to shoot them on sight".

Literally just started playing NV for the first time 6 hours ago. And only stopped to get a smoke in. I have to agree with you my friend, it's super fun and entertaining. Now, back to the wastes.

New Vegas has the best storyline and dialogue of the newer fallouts in my opinion. I can't speak for the original Fallouts because I've barely even played them, but I felt like New Vegas had a lot more content than Fallout 3 and Fallout 4. I've spent countless hours in that game and there are still quests and people I haven't talked to.

Have you decided on a solid build yet and what to focus on perk wise?

A Light Armor character can get Light Touch, Finesse, and high Luck along with That Gun to score crits like crazy.

[–]randyxbobandy[S] 1 ポイント2 ポイント  (1子コメント)

I gave myself 8 Charisma and Luck, I figured they're gonna be useful when I reach The Strip. I stayed within the 4-6 range for most of the others. I'm definitely trying to stay light though.

[–]soundtea 0 ポイント1 ポイント  (0子コメント)

I'd recommend going for Finesse and Light Touch then. That Gun has crazy crit stats and uses 5.56 ammo, meaning it can also use the AP and HP rounds as well.

I loved playing through new vegas it had a very fallout-y feel to it there are points that are challenging even at higher levels not to mention you have your early version of the weapon modding system all around a good game to me
