Ign always gives weird scores. They gave a 5.9 for alien isolation and 6.0 scores for both Destiny and The Division. I'm not shocked they have it a 7.7 especially when many other media outlets are praising it with 9's and 10's across the board. Just sucks cause now because of IGN in part, RE7's meta critic score will go down. I personally don't care about meta critic, but I know a lot of publishers use metacritic to judge how well a game has been received.

Destiny PvP alone deserves higher than a 6. I won't argue the single player experience however. It was pretty lackluster at launch.

They actually gave Destiny a 7.8 and The Division 6.8. That's quite the difference.

I've heard the reviewer talk about alien isolation on several occasions and it's pretty clear he had similar problems with the game as others, but those issues really impacted his enjoyment of it to where he just wanted the game to end. I think his score is very fair if that's how he felt about it.

Does anyone here understand that IGN has more than one reviewer? A lot more? Because it always seems dumb to me that people say "fuck IGN", "IGN is untrustworthy", etc. because one of their many reviewers have an opinion that disagrees with you (especially dumb when the game hasn't even released yet, so you don't know if they're wrong or not). The person who gave Alien Isolation a 5.9 is not the same woman that reviewed RE7.

7.7 is a good score anyway, and with every game release ever there's going to be SOMEBODY that's an outlier, it just happens to be IGN this time. You see games with a 50 on Metacritic that have scores of 1/10 and 8/10 all the time. Are those critics untrustworthy too?

Destructoid gave it 10/10, PC Gamer 90/100 and Polygon 9/10. IGN isn't trustworthy at all when it comes to reviews, especially horror game reviews (I remember they gave Silent Hill Downpour 4.5/10 and Alien Isolation 5.9/10 which is ridiculous) and it's again not representative here with the game having a Metascore of 87.

Just because others gave it a high score doesn't mean IGN or everyone else has to. The Metascore of 87 is an AVERAGE. The lowest being a 50. So yes a 77 fits right in there! IGN also gave Outlast a 7.8 and SOMA an 8.1.

Between demo's and Twitch I really don't understand why people would need reviews when you can make up your own mind about a game.

Last 3 (or so) games I've bought on review scores alone proved to be mediocre games, in my opinion.

Love how American IGN gives it a 7.7, yet IGN Italia and Spain both gave it over an 8.5. Seems like the American reviewer was really harping on the difficulty and amount of puzzles ... but who cares this is a survival horror game, not fucking Limbo.

What I'm worried about is that all these reviews are saying it's only a 10-12 hour game. That's kinda sad as I'm (Canadian) paying $80 for a game.

Regardless, as long as it's a fantastic 10 hours, it'll be worth it.

Looks like a good enough score for a Horror game, 7.7 (although this is IGN, not a really trustworthy reviewer). There's been a lot of talk with this game, I think it will live up to the hype of many.

I've stopped using IGN reviews because of their weird review system. I know the numbers are pointless, but what's the difference between a 7.7 and an 8?
