Sean Spicer Vents to the Press: It’s ‘Demoralizing’ When You Keep Trying to Undercut Trump
White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer vented to the press corps today that it’s frustrating and “demoralizing” for the press to try and “undercut” President Trump at every turn.
CNN’s Jim Acosta asked Spicer today why he and the president went out of their way to hit back on the crowd size issue. Spicer said that it’s not just about the crowd sizes, it’s about the overall way the press has treated Trump and his team.
He said there is a “constant theme to undercut the enormous support that he has,” from people saying there’s no way Trump runs for president to saying there’s no way he wins the primary to saying there’s no way he wins the election.
Spicer said the press is trying to “undermine his credibility and the movement he represents” and it’s frustrating at times.
“The default narrative,” he added, “is always negative.”
