I posted in a Toronto forum on how men's issues are often overlooked. I can't believe how negative the response has been. One comment, which ended up being removed, went on a whole tyrant on how I was sexist, self centered, and misogynistic. I do not know how problems impacting men can ever be addressed without such a negative backlash.

Freedom of speech doesn't mean freedom from criticism.
LOL! That's so fucking rich coming from those morons :D these are people who think cyber violence is real and that criticising feminism amounts to attacking women. It takes balls to go up against these man-haters when they have everything on their side and control moderation but you shouldn't be surprised either when they try and shut you down or slander you.
People like this are the die-hard fanatics, they own and operate the subreddits, community sites and so on and are often even professional activists. So of course they're going to be negative, but arguments like this always serve to help the opposing argument because they're so quick to try and shut you down.

Thanks for the perspective. I was actually feeling pretty bad about the whole thing. I really didn't expect such negativity. I wasn't trying to put down issues that affect women. I was trying to state that men's issues also need to be addressed.

You have to remember these sorts of activists either rely on 'women's' issues as their primary income or they're genuine believers in the cause and really do think that men are all rapists and evil just for being born with a penis.
It's because of this they see anybody showing even the slightest bit concern for men they act almost like that people are encroaching on their territory which is why they get so violent and aggressive. It's not about women's rights for these people or gender equality, it's about money and them having a monopoly over identity politics.
You should have seen the utter fit that feminists threw when an MP over here in the UK called Philip Davies was allowed onto the equality committee. All kinds of slander and insults were thrown at him as they were absolutely desperate to get rid of the guy.
As we've seen with people like Trump and Milo Yiannopoulos however. All this sort of irrational and hyperbolic response does is attract more attention not only to the person they're criticising but themselves. Ordinary people are beginning to question this sort of behaviour more openly, it will take time, but don't worry, I think that things are really turning around now especially since Clinton was stopped because that will mean these people don't have to deal with a hostile administration looming over them when they question feminism.

I saw this person questioning the credibility of CAFE: https://www.reddit.com/r/toronto/comments/5pl1il/university_ave_filled_by_march_on_saturday_better/dcswbeb/
Please have a closer look at those cited websites.
From the (https://nowtoronto.com/news/mens-rights-whitewash/):
The host venue and sponsors pulled out of E-Day Thursday, saying that when CAFE approached them they weren't fully aware of the nature of the event or the group's cause. CAFE says it's committed to improving the "status, health and well-being of boys and men" but is not part of the men's rights movement. The E-Day debacle has renewed accusations by the group's critics that it is deliberately wrapping itself in benign language in an attempt to legitimize what it knows is a very controversial mission. No one would object to something called Equality Day, but presumably Equality for Men Day would have raised some red flags.

Its amazing to me how the mere connection to the men's right movement is a crime in itself apparantly. CAFE gets bullied out of their venues and this site has the audacity to call CAFE out for what?
Justin declined to give us his last name, saying he was "working behind the scenes as a volunteer" and wasn't authorized to speak for the group. He too refused to tell us which politicians are backing CAFE. He claimed that supporters have been harassed, bullied, and sometimes stalked and he couldn't identify them in order to protect their safety.
THink about that, CAFE and their members have to protect themself because of bullying and harassment, and nowtorronto does exactly that with their interview. Oh the irony.
There is nothing to say about http://www.wehuntedthemammoth.com and David Futrelle other than that he is an disonest ideologe to the core.
Inform yourself about CAFE from different sources! They get a lot of backlash like yourself did when merely trying to bring up men's rights!
