I carpooled to the one in NYC yesterday. My fellow passengers complained about "TERFs" through much of the ride and said they hoped radfems would be there so they could beat them up.

Wow. Nothing says "marching for women's rights" the way expressing your wish to beat up women does...

Yeah, the tragic irony was so apparent. Like fuck women for protesting laws that specifically punish people with female anatomy! Even today some of my libfem friends were posting stuff on my Facebook feed about how signs with uteri on them were cissexist. Facepalm into the sun

Amazing that beating women into our place always comes before, I dunno, even telling men to stop being meanies.

Thankfully they were all talk. No reports of arrests or violence from any march

I hope to hell these aren't actual friends.

Only a bunch of 16 year olds on Tumblr calling it "cissexist".

Yes, I've seen many queer/trans people on facebook complaining about how cissexist and transphobic it is for women to wear pussy hats and have posters about vaginas. It's pretty confusing to me. If we're not going to protest losing access to birth control and abortions and we're not going to protest against sexual assault, what is a women's protest supposed to be about?

I legitimately don't understand what people would be marching for, if not these tangible rights. "Go women! We're not asking for anything! We're too different to unite under any tangible policy recommendations or social changes! But we're cool I guess!"

If "trans women" aren't outraged at the treatment of the vast majority of women on this planet (aka "cis women"), what the fuck are they doing?

They hate us for having the anatomy they never will have, and for talking about it as well. It's clearer than ever.

Just a couple of idiots who took the pussy hat thing to mean the women knitted yarn pulled out of their vaginas.

I didn't even bother to correct this.

Shoot, I'd have confirmed it for them. "Yes, it's true, the hair women harvest from their pubic region is bright pink, and can be woven into a soft, luxurious yarn. Before synthetics, this is all yarn was produced."

LOL! I wish I had though of that!

This made me guffaw, oh god.

Lesse, so far I've seen: A Libfem angry about all the uterus-related imagery on protest signs, a Conservative woman posting memes implying that the marchers don't care about FGM and other issues outside the Western world, and a controversial local elected official that I hate-follow posting a picture of a group of protesters and a comment about how the freakshow had nowhere to go after Barnum & Bailey closed down.

One of my Facebook friends, a conservative Trump supporter who lives in Texas, shared a long screed by another conservative woman who doesn't support the marchers, basically lambasting us (I was one of the over 2 million marchers worldwide) for our privilege and our vulgarity (the pussy hats). She went on about the oppression of women in 3rd world countries, but we complain about being "oppressed," how millionaire actresses complain about making fewer millions than male actresses while single moms can barely feed their families.

She misses the point rather blatantly.

I saw a MtT on Twitter say nothing positive on the march and went on how the participants were bullying and excluding Trans 'women'.

They literally couldn't find a positive to post about the event and needed to make the whole event about trans people and therefore themselves...

Some posts came across my tumblr dash originally from MtTs that basically boiled down to, "I am feel uncomfortable when we are not about me?" I blocked the OPs and unfollowed the rebloggers (and sent them a PM telling them why).

Well, sort of? Rita Panahi on Twitter is pointing out that one of the organisres wants Sharia law which seems diametrically opposed to women's rights.

[–]girl_undone 2 ポイント3 ポイント  (0子コメント)

I thought it was just a joke about, what was it, debt? interest? that would be done away with if we were actually living under Sharia law? Not support of it.

Passive agressive FB posts along the lines of, "It was so nice to see some trans-friendly signs among all the ones equating femaleness with anatomy"

The US is truly a non-thinking country in many respects. We can blame the educational system, the culture which says we must continually entertain ourselves, suck up whatever is thrown at us, allow our emotions to rule us, (the continual dramarama) or whatever other excuse people can think of, but the fact is, too many of us are spoiled, privileged, entitled, and just too plain lazy to think for ourselves. It's all about "whatever" to most people these days who have no boundaries or standards of their own and are just looking for the next novelty or "new thing".

I get depressed just reading what you wrote and wonder if this is just going to be normal in the future? I like to think not, that people will come to their senses--it just gets overwhelming sometimes.
