Most men pursue women believing that women are either pure, honest, benevolent creatures or they believe them to be just like men but with different sex organs. Both are completely wrong: The idea that women are kind is a direct product of the "women are wonderful" effect; lots of very profitable industries are completely and utterly reliant on men worshipping an unrealistically high moral image of femininity. I'm not saying there are no men of poor moral character. I'm saying that the risks clearly outweigh the rewards for men seeking meaningful relationships with women. There are simply too many systems in place that financially motivate and socially reward women for being promiscuous and irresponsible. If another man is more exciting or better looking or wealthier, taller, etc. she will cheat and suffer minimal social penalties for doing so (if she is even caught), she may even be rewarded by what is commonly known as "you go girl!" culture wherein women feel empowered by imitating "alpha males" who dominate the sexual market because of women's instinctual hypergamous desires.
