‘Enough With the F*cking Crowd Size’: Spicer’s Explosive Presser Gets Ripped Apart on Twitter
Sean Spicer‘s debut as White House Press Secretary was devoted to attacking the media, and the Twitterverse was hardly impressed.
Spicer went on a major tirade in the Briefing Room on Saturday where he slammed reporters and accused them of misrepresenting the size of President Trump‘s inauguration crowd. This comes after the media picked up on how Trump’s attendance numbers fell short to the inauguration crowds of his predecessors.
In response to the presser, many media figures and observers posted their thoughts online, and a great deal of which were exceedingly negative:
Sean Spicer lacks the guts or integrity to refuse orders to go out and lie. He is a failure in this job on his first full day.

Categorically, demonstrably false. The new WH press secretary opens his time with a lie & takes no questions? https://t.co/WfqyBmKb92

I've run out of adjectives.

Prediction: There will be a poll, out next week, that will show 70-80% of Trump supporters believing that Mall photos were fake news.

Sean Spicer's first hostage video … that was pathetic. Embarrassing. Bad. Just bad.

At some point, Spicer is going to be a paid TV contributor after he leaves his gig. As if his falsehoods never happened. It's how it works.

This is called a statement you're told to make by the President. And you know the President is watching.

This is how the headlines should read — not "Trump attacks media over crowd size reporting", with the falsity of the claim deep inside … https://t.co/ywhWbMTKEc
— Paul Krugman (@paulkrugman) January 22, 2017
It is embarrassing, as an American, to watch this briefing by Sean Spicer from the podium at the White House. Not the RNC. The White House.

Accurate headline. Good job CNN https://t.co/EhelF8TfHE

The man who forced Spicer to give that statement controls our nuclear arsenal.
Enjoy your Saturday!

So today's fight is over an erroneous tweet about an MLK bust and the number of attendees at the inauguration. #PutinSmiles
— Erick Erickson (@EWErickson) January 21, 2017
This is not a political campaign. It is not a game. This is now the White House lying to the American people.

I saw a president lie about his affairs and another president wage war around a lie, but Trump tops it all. This is surreal.

White House Press Secretary @SeanSpicer lies about the dismally small inauguration attendance for Trump. This is what tyrannical regimes do. pic.twitter.com/1vLtS0HCtE
