Last night during league play, I was shooting stripes. After my turn, I go to my table to grab my beer and as I turn back to watch my opponent, she sunk one of my stripes. I obviously called it, took ball in hand and ran it out, but she got all pissy towards me and refused to shake hands after. She said I'd be mad if it happened to be, to which I replied I wouldn't shoot the wrong balls. Haha. Had I been at the table as she shot, I don't think I would have told her anyway. Why is it my responsibility to make sure she knows what she's shooting? On top of that, a couple rounds later she picked the cue ball up before confirming foul with her opponent and it wasn't even a foul. My teammate let it go and let her put the cue ball back and ended up losing because of it. She obviously has a problem paying attention when she's not at the table. She was a poor sport the rest of the night and her teammates were calling me a poor sport all night too. Whenever I would miss they made sure I could hear them saying they knew I would miss or I got lucky on a tough shot or they'd yell foul sarcastically after I shot. Grown women acting like children. Usually a fun team to play against too.
Am I in the wrong for taking ball in hand and running it out or should I have played it where it was and just end her turn? Should I be making sure my opponent is shooting the right balls? I'm in it to win it. I think she should be mad at herself for such a basic fuck up instead of sour towards me. Play it off as a doofus moment and don't let it happen again.

Don't feel bad for playing by the rules! Some people get sour for dumb reasons, but never feel mad because someone else dropped the ball - or played the wrong one.
I was playing in league tonight and absolutely crushed a guy that shoots a better speed than I do. I was on the hill and he had yet to win a game when I snapped a nine in, he looked at me and was visibly upset and I said (jokingly) "I didn't rack 'em"
People need to take responsibility for their own shit. Depending on the league, the peanut gallery (read bench, and more importantly captain) can remind the teammate on the table of the rules without a time-out. It's on the full team, not the dim-witted player.
Don't let some one make you feel like an ass because of their neglect to pay attention. Shut 'em up by playing a better game.
That being said, playing in league is about having fun, if your not doing that, than you aren't doing it right. League play is about community and growth of the sport, enjoy it.
Hope that helps!

I agree it's about fun. I'll make sure I have fun next time shutting them all out. Thanks for the reply.
