About this project
Trumped the Board Game is about power and influence, with the ultimate aim of obtaining the Presidency. Players move around the board and buy up positions of influence. The board is laid out to represent the Media, the House of Representatives, the Senate, the Supreme Court, and the Executive Branch.
Once you have a key position under your control, you can begin adding Congressmen or Judges to your political machine. As players move around the board and land on one of your power centers, they must pay you for being within your sphere of influence.
In order to obtain the Presidency, a player must first control five or more centers of power (squares on the game board) and twenty cronies (red game pieces). The player must then land on the President square and pay $10,000 in campaign money. He/she can then place the White House game piece on the square and declare themselves as the winner.
Trumped is a great game that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and played with two to six people. The buying and trading aspect of the game makes for lively fun, but the real entertainment is the surprise twists and turns that the Trumped and Dumped cards add to the game. The cards make the game relevant to today's political news with humor that is always in good taste. Each deck contains over thirty cards.
Use Trumped cards to trump the moves and or actions of your opponents.
Additional cards will be made available, keeping the game fresh and up to date with current news stories and political events. These can be purchased and added to the game.
Risks and challenges
Creating and manufacturing a new game can always present new challenges. The printing of the game should be straight forward, especially since the game uses many dimensions from previous games.
The challenge will be with the custom miniatures: the player pieces, Congressmen busts, and White House. We feel confident that these can be produced within the time constraints, but in the event there are delays, we will keep everyone informed. In fact we will post weekly updates to let all our backers know exactly how things are progressing. We are continually having people test play the game and make improvements, so some minor changes may occur before the actual manufacture of the game. We also invite suggestions from backers.
Shipping is another area that many Kickstarters find challenging. We will be using an experienced fulfillment center to handle all the shipping for us. This greatly reduces our burden and insures that backers get their games in an efficient and expeditious manner. Shipping charges are determined by third party carriers and may be subject to change. We do our best to estimate the shipping charges.
