Why would you want to change something that is working?

As I said in the post, I think Jose should stay with the current formation for the exact reason you say. This is mostly for interest's sake and to see what y'all would think.

Would I love for Jose to try this one game? Sure! Should he? Probably not.

Probably not. Jose has rarely ever played 3-5-2. He's the master of 4 at the back formations as seen in his career. Much rather he stick to that.

Yep, agreed. Just something I thought I'd put out there!

This formation looks good in theory but when they counter on the wings it shifts it so that Carrick is playing in a CB position and can push Mkhi into a CM position when they attack down the right. It just doesn't balance well on defense and honestly I'm not a huge fan of that midfield combination on offense. Carrick will either be doing too much running from a CB position (plus he's fairly immobile) or our midfield just doesn't have a good balance and we have too many players who want a free role to run around. No one to anchor the midfield really.

Yeh definitely, and Valencia pushing up on the right allows them to do this. Theoretically, this can be one quibble from the recent great run, where they can do this on the right, but not necessarily on the left, partly in due to Martial being a totally different player from Mkhi, but mostly because Darmian isn't as effective as Valencia in this role. That may be by design from Mou, but in games like against Liverpool where an 18 year old is playing at RB for the opposition, this is where I thought we could have attacked more.

Also I agree with the point about the midfield, it almost leads me to think that if this was done in reality, Herrera would be better suited to be the anchor and Pogba to his left (where I've noticed he likes to mostly operate from already)
