IMO, Dude was basically tortured, I really don't know if he is really trans or just broken. He doesn't seem to be a typical representative of anything, let alone some shared trans experience.

On edit:I know he ain't the most popular guy here, but being kept nude and woken every 15 minutes or so for months on end is kinda cruel and might scramble your brains a bit.

Yes, I'm happy he was freed for the same reason. He was being tortured.

Btw this is really creepy though. http://thenewinquiry.com/suppressed-images/

I do take issue with calling him a "whistleblower" and not the traitor he really is. It wasn't his "duty" to put the lives of other Americans at risk.

OK, I get why you might call Bradley Manning a traitor, however there was some seriously fucked up stuff going on that was revealed. Including but no limited to:

  • There is an official policy to ignore torture in Iraq.
  • Guantanamo prison has held mostly innocent people and low-level operatives.
  • U.S. Military officials withheld information about the indiscriminate killing of Reuters journalists and innocent Iraqi civilians.
  • The State Department backed corporate opposition to a Haitian minimum wage law.
  • The U.S. Government had long been faking its public support for Tunisian President Ben Ali.
  • Known Egyptian torturers received training from the FBI in Quantico, Virginia.
  • The State Department authorized the theft of the UN Secretary General’s DNA.
  • The Japanese and U.S. Governments had been warned about the seismic threat at Fukushima.
  • The Obama Administration allowed Yemen’s President to cover up a secret U.S. drone bombing campaign.
  • Oil giant Shell claims to have “inserted staff” and fully infiltrated Nigeria's government.
  • The UK sidestepped a ban on housing cluster bombs. Officials concealed from Parliament how the US is allowed to bring weapons on to British soil in defiance of treaty.
  • Israel wanted to bring Gaza to the ”brink of collapse.”

I mean, that is some pretty fucked up stuff. If you want to know more you can read about it here and here.

  • he

No, they absolutely would not give a flying fuck about this dude if he hadn't decided to ~transition~ and bilk the government out of thousands of dollars in unnecessary, elective medication and surgery in order to play on the sympathy of the transcult and get let out early.

These people support rapists, pedophiles and murderers every single day. They petition for the rapists and murderers of women to be let into women's prisons that are full of their preferred victims. They could give a fuck about the fact that Manning committed treason -- all they care about is that he calls himself "she" and wears lipstick while being a man.

If I can put on my tin-foil hat for a minute here, maybe Manning claimed to be trans knowing it was a good way to stay in the spotlight and ultimately win a reprieve? I mean, Bruce Jenner is all over the news but the collateral murder video is eclipsed by more recent leaks.

He wrote to a gender counselor in 2009, well before his Wikileaks misadventure. I think it's far more likely he wanted to transition b/c he was an isolated, confused and bullied gay man.

I didn't know that. Poor guy. :(

No, and I saw where Pres Obama has commuted all but 45 days (?) of his sentence. I'm furious.

Trans always get what they want. Always. As a woman of 76 yrs, I'm still waiting for some vindication of my rights.

As a whistle-blower/traitor...he was actually pretty incompetent. Obama pardoned him so they wouldn't have to pay his surgery and make all sorts of expensive accommodations for him. We will see how well he does in the real world with ladyface and an inability to keep things confidential.

I think it'll be interesting to see what he does next. Whether he decides to throw himself into the oh so supportive community and do his bit for them by going into transactivism.

I don't know the exact timeline but I believe he first mentioned trans when he was unhappy in the military and then transitioned when he was facing a long stretch in a military prison? Maybe he won't need trans now he's not facing 35 years in a military prison as a short, camp, gay guy.

There are 1,400 people in US military prisons (source). Do we know who any of them are or what they are imprisoned for or how long their sentences are? That pretty much answers your question.
