A 180 of out nowhere from "LOL that hot chick is having another breakdown, here's nudes" to "Race traitor, hang her in the streets!"

For years and years, Reddit was complaining about how Lohan was off the rails, and now that she's off drugs and has her life back on track, they hate her for this choice, too.

You can't win, I guess.

Is it really fair to equate the_donald with the rest of reddit?

[–]jniamh [スコア非表示]  (4子コメント)

Reddit is the only social media site to produce anything like that sub, so it's an inherent part of and reflection on the culture of Reddit in general

so yes

Reddit's a big place. Facebook has kkk group pages and the_donald equivalents, Tumblr has pages for trump, why is the_donald representative of Reddit while similar pages on other sites are not representative of those sites?

Edit: on mobile and formatting is weird

Tumblr is slightly different due to the format - if you don't follow people who espouse x thing you may never encounter it. But it is still primarily associated with it's vocal 'extreme left' minorities.

Facebook is built around real life associations and is therefore associated with the day-to-day morons you can't get away from. So there it's racist uncles rather than specifically organised racist communities.

Those sites are typfied by their general cultures and user bases.

The Tumblr argument can be made for Reddit though, if you don't subscribe to those subreddits you'll never run into the_donald style garbage.

Also just because you don't run into a community doesn't mean it's not representative of the site.

I guess what I'm getting at is that negareddit equates the_donald with all of Reddit and I think it's an unfair comparison. They're a vocal asshole minority that exists on almost every social media site.

I rarely run into the_donald stuff (now, post election) but the only way to avoid it pre-election was avoiding most of the main defaults, that didn't have stringently maintained no politics policies.

Also just because you don't run into a community doesn't mean it's not representative of the site.

True, but Tumblr has been associated with extreme left-wing viewpoints for years now. That hasn't exactly come out of nowhere, even with a recent increase in right-wing users.
