My question is, what can I do to stop idolizing romantic relationships? I see them at the grocery store, at the gym, in bars, everywhere and I can’t help but feel envy when I see them. I know I shouldn’t and I know that they all have their fights and problems when they are not in public. But everywhere you go you see them, I’m also one of the few out of my circle of friends not in a relationship. One girl I know recently asked if I had a girlfriend, which I denied. She proceeded to inquire which made me uncomfortable and she didn’t believe me when I told her that I don’t want and don’t need a relationship. But deep down I wasn’t so sure if that’s really the truth and I’m just lying to myself.
