PSTV Whitelist – How to play All Vita games on your PS TV with simplified steps & video
The PS TV has always been a promising device, but its many limitations made it sub par. Some of these limitations, such as the PS TV whitelist, are plain stupid: Sony decided to prevent you from playing certain Vita Games on your PS TV. The rules on which games can go into the whitelist or not seem pretty random. Although the PS TV does not have a touch screen, which makes som PS Vita games incompatible, this was never the whole story, and some games that would play perfectly well on the PS TV are not part of the Whitelist.
Mr.Gas and Qwikrazor87 have now fixed this problem, through a hack. The hack is extremely simple, and as we announced a few days ago, involves the email client on the PS Vita. The Technique should work on any firmware up to 3.52 included.
The steps are fairly simple:
PSTV Whitelist hack – The Easy way
I’m not entirely sure the following works. I’ve had mixed results with testers, and I don’t have a PSTV myself so I can’t test. Give it a try, and if it does not work scroll down for the manual way.
- Go to http://wololo.net/talk/pstv_whitelist/.
- Enter your email (the one you use on your ps vita) and click submit
- You should receive 3 emails on your Vita. One is named “Activate PSTV Writer”. Open it.
- Click on the attached picture. You will see an error message
- DON’T CLICK on OK. Instead, press the PS Button, and quit the email app.
- Open the email app again. It is possible you have to connect to your email account from scratch again, this is normal
- Open the email entitled ur0:game/launch/list_launch_vita.dat. click on the attached file (#0), and you will see the same error again
- As above, DO NOT CLICK on OK, but press the PS Button and quit the email app.
- You’re done, you should now be able to play all Vita games on your PSTV

- If you also want to unlock all PSP and PS1 games, open the email ur0:game/launch/list_launch_emu.dat, open the attached file (#0), and as above, just press the PS Button to quit the app.
Thanks to xmax katsu and @Shirai1Kuro for verifying my page works 🙂
PSTV Whitelist hack – The manual way
If the system above does not work for you, try the solution below
1. Download this file: writer.eml.
2. Open that file with thunderbird or any other email client on your PC, and forward it to your email account on the Vita’s email app
3. Load the vita email app, and open the email you just sent:
Click on the attached image. You will get an error message
DO NOT CLICK OK on the error message. Instead, press the PS button and quit the app.
4. Open the Vita email app again. You might have to enter your mail account’s credentials again, this is normal. Your vita email client is now ready for the hack.
5. Download list_launch_vita.dat and rename it to #0 , with NO file extension
6. Email it to your vita’s registered email address with the following subject: ur0:game/launch/list_launch_vita.dat
To clarify again. Your email contains the file “#0”, and the subject above, that’s it.
Note: to unblock PSP/PS1 games, you can email the same file with the same process, with the subject ur0:game/launch/list_launch_emu.dat
You should now be able to run all of your digital games on the PSTV. Enjoy!
for those of you who prefer a video, here’s a cool tutorial by domthybomb:
Known issues and limitations
- Not all games get whitelisted by this technique, Mr. Gas mentions that some newer games have additional security checks.
- There’s a bit of “trial and error” with this, for some reason. If the automated system does not work for you, try the manual one, and vice-versa.
- Resetting your Vita TV will remove the hack, and you’ll have to run through the steps again. However, putting the Vita TV in “sleep” mode will not remove the hack
- People have had a hard time getting the Vita email client to work with gmail. Gmail considers that client insecure. Here is how to enable Gmail on your PS Vita/PS TV if you run into issues

Note: we’ve been super late on this, despite it being a huge breakthrough for PSTV owners. I’ll blame my real life on this one, as I had a pretty busy week. The manual steps above have been shamelessly copied from hackinformer, via Neogaf. The tool at http://wololo.net/talk/pstv_whitelist/, however, is my work (and I totally reused some UI from psmplus thanks to Major Tom).
Is there a bypass in order to not update when running netflix on the pstv or even with crunchyroll? Am getting bs about updating and i know there is a way on a ps3 cfw to bypass the bs of having to sign in on sony in order for them to monitor what you think what you watch and how you live your life i believe it was called NOPSN.
Stupid question but will this work with downloaded games and will I risk getting my PSN banned?
Netflix is now unlocked on my Vita TV.
Is Assassin’s creed 3 liberation compatible with this hack?
I got a PSTV after hearing about this hack to play some Vita games – an idiot question though, can I still safely get digital games downloaded? If an update comes out that breaks the hack, how can I get PSN games onto my vita TV without taking it online – or am I stuck with physical games?
I’ve tried turning off the Vita TV using the Home button on my DS4 and selecting “Power Off”. For some reason the hack still works and I’m still able to run Uncharted (Physical copy) without restarting the email steps.
Funny thing has happened with my PSTV (EU version, VTE-1016), the hack has worked fine, perfect even, heck, better than expected.
I noticed in the notes that after a reboot the hack should disappear, well no matter how much I reboot mine and switch between Vita Memory Cards (An 8GB and a 16GB using the same EU PSN Account if that’s any use) the hack just doesn’t seem to go, games that shouldn’t run still do. Not that I’m complaining at all! But it seems like something to mention considering the predicted behaviour is for it to reset the database after it powers down.
Uncharted and MGS Collection HD works even after powering off my vita. Both were physical copies.
My god MY GAMES WORK!!!!! Holy *** Netflix is working too!!! Thank you guys so much I love my vita TV now
Tested the Easy way guide on my PSTV and so far it works fine.
Well its deasd, the new update killed it
you mean 3.60???
At time of writing 10/2/2015 I can still watch netflix on 3.51 PSTV. As long as I don’t turn off the system and don’t exit the netflix screen and always put it in stand-by I can continue to watch netflix. It’s a little slow at times but works just fine I’m very happy with this hack so far.
Now dumping games and game backup installing that’s what I want see even if there isn’t that many games on PSvita that are worth playing but being hacked like my PSP and PS3 is a god send.
Why can’t you just use charles proxy to redirect the list_launch_vita.dat?
This is the perfect blog for anybody who hopes to understand this topic.
You realize a whole lot its almost hard to argue with you (not that I personally will need to…HaHa).
You certainly put a fresh spin on a topic that’s been discussed for many years.
Great stuff, just great!
is this hack still working?
This Hack works for me on PS Vita TV FW 3.30.
Can the Vita be updated after “hacking”?

all round interesting blog (I also love the theme/design),
I don’t have time to go through it all at the moment
but I have saved it and also added your RSS feeds, so when I have time I will be back to read much more,
Please do keep up the awesome jo.
Thanks a lot the easy method work for me.
I noticed that the hack will not erase if you block internet connection in pstv setting after read the three mails. I can stanby and shutdown the pstv hack is still there 😉
I tried the v2 version of this hack found on hackinformer, and it went smooth up until I restarted my pstv. the database rebuilt itself and killzone, or uncharted were unable to run. Luckily I was able to default back to v1 whitelist, and they run again, but I’m wondering where I went wrong on the v2 hack? I did everything it specified to every note on the site and it’s guide.
http://hackinformer.com/PlayStationGuide/PSV/tutorials/how_to_install_the_pstv_whitelist_patch_v2.html
Any ideas on what made the pstv rebuild the database when I completed the last step and restarted the system?
Dominate with our rapid fire mod controller call of duty zombies
Can somebody tell me why the motion detection can’t work on pstv while the dualshock 4 have one? Is a fix is in development for that?
Thank you.
I did everything right but when I login to my gmail account on the ps tv and I select the email that say activate PSTV Writer then I select the picture icon than I press the PS button to go home and I close the Emil app but once I select the email app I am automatically login in.
Is that the reason why its not working for me?
There’s a way to hack pstv without using Vita? (which i don’t have)
i was wondering, if i buy a pstv, will this hack work as long as i have firmware versions under 3.52, and will i beable to do hacks????? like the psp emultor hack?
im on 3.57 not working plz help how do i downgrade
Any hope on an updated while list hack for 3.60? I updated mine before I found this post…
So if i unplug or turn off my ps tv for any reason the whitelist hack will disappear?
So i must always leave it turned ON forever ?
Can I go online with this hack, or will it cause my account to get deleted in any way? I don’t wanna lose all my trophies 🙁
It’s not a hack for a current firmware so you wont be able to go online anyway.
I just bought Playstation TV for playing Wipeout. It was $19.99 in walmart…
Came home. Did the hack and it worked perfectly. Played one game and then updated PSTV to the latest – 3.60 in order to download previously purchased Metal Gear bundle. End now, it won’t work any more! Wipeout and all… :'(
Please help.
No help available. The hack only works on 3.52 and lower firmware. By updating you forfeit the use of this at least until a new exploit is found that would allow the use of this on a more recent firmware.
Please, can you say when a new exploit is available to 3.60? Im very interested in it. I bought pstv and i didnt know this. Thanks.
