My line in the sand right now is to turn away attempts to induce apocalypse fever among otherwise sensible people. The "choice" posed here is absurd: you'd have to leap over years of expected mass nonviolent organizing to even get to the point where these might seem like the only options. But because of all that organizing, it is more likely than not that we won't face that choice. Trust the people!

Talk of leaving the country of especially galling: remember that all over the country are older activists with the experience of being beaten, shot at, arrested and worse in the course of (esp.) the Nixon administration. There is too big an investment here to walk away from.
