Jose: "I didn't think the game had super quality. We didn't reflect the qualities we have and Liverpool have - but it was very emotional, intense, aggressive. We fought until the last second. They were clever. They took their time, they know how to play football and control the emotions of the game. They knew they would be in trouble in the final few minutes. We were the team that attacked and Liverpool were the team that defended - let's see if the critics are fair. I have a problem with my neck because I was always looking to the left in the second half and I saw so many yellow shirts in front of me I thought 'let's go for it'. We lost two points when we wanted all three. The people need to know what Marouane Fellaini is great at and what he is not so good at. Marouane is very good in some aspects."

Klopp: "They played long balls in a wild game. We played the better football and had the better plan. When you see the line-ups and our circumstances, we had lots of little issues, you say 'a point at Old Trafford - let's take it and go home.' Of course it now doesn't feel like that because of the performance of my boys. In the end period of the game when United started playing long balls - to Marouane Fellaini and Zlatan Ibrahimovic - after 80 minutes high intense football it is really hard, Usually you can accept a draw at Manchester United but I think after the entire 98 minutes we could have deserved a win."

Some Thoughts

• Big missed opportunity to pick up 3 points last night and poor finishing let us down once more. Mkhi and Pogba both missing massive chances in the first half (along with a cracking save from Mignolet on Ibra's free-kick) and Martial missing an open net by completing missing connecting with the ball at the beginning of the second half too. They shouldn't have been leading in that game for as long as they were given how little they created until the game opened right up near the end. 2 points dropped last night and we cannot keep doing it because it's not often you get tons of chances in those kind of matches.

• Credit to Liverpool though for their press. It led to plenty of pressure on United's players and this led to corners being conceded and, eventually, the penalty from Pogba's handball. They kept Pogba on edge all night and it wasn't until the second half, when they dropped even deeper, that he was able to really start to find space and by then he was far too rattled to actually manage much. Their press (Lallana) on Carrick also negated his presence in the game and led to a swift change at half-time by Mourinho. I thought Herrera had a good game though and was the only midfielder able to match their high-intensity and still finding the time to pull off lovely through-balls like this and the one that sent Mkhi free in the first half (anyone have it?)

• Martial had a tough time releasing the ball during that game, he beat Alexander-Arnold easily enough but then found himself quickly pressured by one or two more Liverpool players and he needed to release the ball more quickly after beating their fullback (although in his defence he rarely received help from Darmian and Pogba wasn't often looking for the pass either). I think it was a mistake taking off Martial without Rashford taking his place because Alexander-Arnold was all over the place for them and was definitely the week point in their back four.

• Anyway, frustrating not to pick up the full 3 points and close the gap above us down to 3 points from 2nd to 6th but we remain unbeaten and now have to pick up again against Stoke. They have a couple of wins on the trot in the league (although lost in the FA Cup) and they're never easy away from home, especially with Hughes in charge given how much he loves to try to beat us. We need to step it up and make a statement.
