This van spent most of its life in California and Nevada. The owner in Nevada converted the stock engine to the super reliable Bostig engine conversion using a new, crate engine. He also made most of the modifications that are listed below. The workmanship and attention to detail is excellent. When the owner in Nevada sold it it was purchased by a VW garage owner in Wisconsin, and it was in storage for about a year. We purchased it and brought it to the Indianapolis area in March of 2015. It is one of the most fun vehicles we have ever driven. It commands (and gets) LOTS of attention. You can't drive this vehicle without being noticed. We've had it at the last two big VW car shows in the Indianapolis area, and out of hundreds of gorgeous vehicles it is always one of the crowd favorites. It won Top 15 Water-Cooled at the 2016 Volktoberfest (Largest VW Car Show in Indiana).

- A very low-rust van from Nevada. Has been stored in garage and never driven in winter conditions while in the Midwest.
- Bostig engine conversion with new crate motor, not salvage or rebuilt. Currently just over 5,600 miles on conversion. http://www.bostig.com
- 4spd manual transmission was rebuilt by VW transmission experts RC Trans in Las Vegas, NV. http://rctrans.com/wordpress
- Custom fabricated heavy-duty bumpers, front skid plate, side rock sliders, safari roof rack, front sun visor with ammo box storage, front brush guard, rear swing-out gas can and spare tire carrier
- Safari roof rack attaches to rain gutters with Yakima 1A Hi-Rise towers and comes off and on easily.
- New axles and all new wheel bearings.
- 1.5" Lift

Issues:
- Sliding door handle is stiff to operate.
- Horn isn't hooked up.
- Power needs to be run to the interior light and clock on custom header console.
- Some of the silver paint is peeling off the steel rims.
- A small dent on the passenger door.
- The ignition and doors are keyed differently.
- The Nevada owner began an air-conditioning install that is close to being finished. There is a new condenser in front of the radiator and also some related parts and wiring.
- For off-roading, a Bostig High-Capacity Oil Pan should be installed to gain approximately 2" of ground clearance and make the oil pan stronger than the current stock one. http://www.bostig.com/high-capacity-oilpan-hc-oilpan/ There is also a Bostig skid plate available for really heavy duty protection. http://www.bostig.com/250-thick-engine-skidplate-for-bostig-conversion/
With a few modifications like a high-clearance oil pan and a limited-slip differential, this could become a very capable 2WD, light off-road machine. Do a pop-top or high-top conversion, and this would make an excellent, reliable, traveling/camping vehicle. This van is ready to drive hard as-is or it would be an amazing launching pad for something even more badass.
We recommend a hard test drive. This thing has to be driven and seen to be appreciated. It can be put on a trailer if you like, but I wouldn't hesitate to drive it almost anywhere. It's smooth and quiet on the interstate and cruises easily at 70-75mph.
