Update: I'm pretty sure the guy in the beanie who said it just got escorted out of the building. LUL

SHUTTLE BUS ARRIVED FeelsGoodMan

Well I wouldn't be surprised since he just told a massive crowd to go jump in front of a shuttle.

He didn't look like he was enjoying his time there anyways

nice followup about 5 mins later when the crowd stops acting like dad just slapped mom at the dinner table

when the crowd stops acting like dad just slapped mom at the dinner table

Amazing analogy

Also beanie is gone now

you made me laugh. thank you

Where is ware? I thought you two were a couple?

this is the highlight of all of AGDQ. He said that infront of 205,000 people holy shit

There was a guy who said "fuck" and "shit" also. I think it was the guy playing Zelda Windwaker. Twitch chat went crazy.

Is that against AGDQ rules or something?

I would imagine so. One time the announcer was muted for making a mildly flirtatious response to someone who complimented him in a donation comment

Yeah family friendly, PG-rated stream

as much as the "fuck gdq" train is fun, the occasional swear is something they genuinely don't care about. See: everyone who does it who isn't banned.

Wait people hate GDQ now? Did I miss something? Or are you just referring to when people swear to mess with them?

Lots of people don't like it, yea. It's moved away from its roots more-or-less. People lament the casual, fun, "community" feel, being replaced by the more corporate charity stream it is now.

In short "It used to be a speedrunning event for charity, now it's a charity event that uses speedrunning."

With that said, i think the change is not only for the better, but was inevitable and necessary, and I still think the heart is there.

What has more rules: The event or the Twitch chat?

I honestly don't know. I just have heard them say "family friendly" a lot on one of the streams I was watching from a past year

agdq is very family friendly, its also controlled by socjus so several runners have been banned for making jokes that they didnt like

I agree with his message, the wah thing is cancer and the quintessential dead horse twitch meme that needs to stop, but there's a way of telling people to stop yelling without sapping all the fun from the room.

Nah yeah I get that it'd be annoying to people, but it was also people having fun. No need to tell them to off themselves.

Proper solution would've been asking the announcer to say "hey guys, calm down with the WAAAs, save it for after the run"

Well if it's distracting for the speed runners who are listening for audio queues, or if it's distracting from the commentary (which it does) then they need to stop.

Its a crowd. That is sitting right behind the runners. It was made this way, and its intended. AGDQ is not about runners speedrunning in a super-serious try hard enviroment, its about having fun and especially about charity. If they cant take that a crowd is being loud they should not have attended. And its not even a runner adressing them, its a fking guy on the couch.

Yeah they went full try hard at the end and donations slowed and hype died. Good job AGDQ.

QUIET PLEASE PLEASE BE QUIET WE NEED SILENCE

SILENCE WE ARE HERE TO RUN FOR WR NOT FOR A CHARITY EVENT

Err what. In the end it's about speedrunning (for charity). Asking people to be quiet for the runners at one of the trickiest parts shouldn't be demonized...

And its not even a runner adressing them, its a fking guy on the couch.

IIRC one of the runners asked them to stop twice and they kept going.

Pretty sure if people in chat would spam WAAAAH they would start banning it x)))

Implying they kill themselves isn't the way too ask them to stop.

correct, but he could've done it in a much politer way as the guy mentioned. he didn't need to be so aggressive about it

Exactly what I said in my original comment

ah sorry, i misjudged what part of the individuals comment before yours you were referencing, i thought you were replying to his second sentence and not his first. My apologies

I'd love to know why it 'needs to stop'.

I find half the memes silly and annoying but obviously a large amount of people don't.

Banned for life likely.

Yeah if you read the organization's rules, they are super uptight with everything and I honestly can't blame them.

It looked like his head tilted to his right and looked at someone before he stood up, I think they told him to gtfo.

He just said "Oh they turned off my mic so I can't tell them to kill themselves" LOL

This totally explains everything now! I honestly thought he fumbled on his words to the crowed and was trying to tell people to leave by using a shuttle bus outside the hotel, but no...he really did mean step out in front of the shuttle bus.

Yeah, the "WAHHH"ing was getting way out of hand but come on dude, you're at a prevent cancer charity event, in what universe did he think that was gonna go well.

Anyone know who that dude is? His twitch chat is going to be fucking gold. WAAAH!

I just went through his twitter. i think he legit hates AGDQ "clapping should be banned during races" and "only one race had everyone finish sub 3 what a trainwreck" or the instant classic, from when he was on the couch during the race,"I want to die"

Probably, like a lot of people, think it was a better event when the room could only fit 20 or so people.

I do think the same, thats why I dont watch it anymore. If he does too why does he attend this event then... like wtf dude.

He probably decided he was going to bail on the community after that night and decided to go out swinging. Not bad, lol.

yep, event has gone way the fuck downhill. Ever since around "please stop".

Well, there's about an 8 hour night shift where the room is usually empty and those runs are really chill (as a european I often watched those parts in the morning, enjoy them a lot more personally)

Though I think there were plenty of runs where it didn't bother me how many people were in the room as the runner/couch gave basically full commentary + donations, so the only effect people had were more clapping or cheering for big donations.

lets be honest.. that "WAAH" shit its probably the most autistic shit of this whole event

If something even has the slightest chance of becoming some sort of meme, they will run that shit into the ground so fast it will pop out in China and achieve escape velocity.

The "checkpoint!" shit during Halo 2 was bad enough.

This whole event is always a fucking goldmine for autistic shit.

theres just something about the presentation of the event itself that makes literally everything really awkward.

don't you just love how they read donations that talk about how people's parents/friend die horribly of cancer while people are trying to have fun with videogames?

There's nothing better than watching someone play an obscure, goofy SNES game at 3am while the announcer reads something like, "Love what you guys are doing. My mom died of cancer 3 years ago and it was the most painful experience of my life. I'm still trying to recover from it. And don't forget to save those animals!"

Perhaps because the event is about people learning to play old ass video games by spending countless hours perfecting them. There was a guy that had 10k hours of Donkey Kong 2. These are not normal people.

Let's be real, this is Autism Done Quick.

I would argue beanie telling them to kill themselves is slightly more autistic

Classic AGDQ phenomenon: Unstoppable Autistic Force meets and Unmovable Autistic Object. See: "I'd prefer if you would be quiet" fiasco.

The way he said it was too witty to be autistic.

Yeah man beanie is our modern day Mark Twain, especially the part where he stumbles around in front of the middle of the sentence. If this is what we consider wit these days, I've got a shuttle to catch.

the part where he stumbles around in front of the middle of the sentence.

What on earth does this even mean???

"If you want to prevent cancer, consider standing out in front of the shuttle that's running in front of the hotel on the hour."

Fucking eloquence incarnate, I guess i'm just channeling his spirit into my own shitty sentence

    Nah "wah" was worst.

I mean, he just guaranteed that he never comes back to one of these events, so no, i'll still argue that he was worse.

What would him getting banned have to do with whats worse , a shitty redundant meme or someone telling the shit memers to shut the fuck up.

Edit: that said he went a lil too ham but that WAAAH shit is way too annoying.

They should ban the idiots yelling "wah" as well

Ensuring that you'll never return to an autistic event probably isn't autistic

Doubt he cares really. I was actually about to mute during the last round of wahs when I saw him reach for the mic and knew he'd tell them to stop again (they'd been told many times). Didn't expect this though.

Cheering and shit is one thing. Wahs are the dumbest shit and weren't funny two years ago when they first began.

To be fair bonesaw got banned for joking about having people tweet aircanada and making owen Wilson impressions so its pretty easy to get b4l

    It's the sound Waluigi makes.

They were definitely getting obnoxious, but there are way better ways to say "Can we calm it down a little please?" other than to..You know..Kill themselves.

    it probably goes like this.

10 minutes in "okay this got really annoying, I should say something but I don't want to cause an awkward situation, I guess I should wait for a bit, surely they will realize how annoying this is soon and will stop"

30 minutes in "okay this is getting unbearable, they got to realize how annoying this got, I know these people aren't that stupid to not see how annoying this is, I should wait a bit more"

    50 minutes in "REEEEEEEEEEEEE"

When I was in Chicago for LoL Worlds Quarter Finals, there was some idiot that kept doing these really obnoxious howling sounds. His friends joined in with him, then suddenly we could hear it around the audience. No one was putting breaks on it and it was seriously getting annoying. Even though his dude did kind of take it too far, I honestly don't blame him especially when you're in a room full of the people that scream "hype" all day.

I'm glad at TI6 (dota2) the crowd was asked to stop moo-ing

    No that was the woo-ing.

The moo-ing was just to support Moo, the last NA player in the tournament.

especially when you're in a room full of the people that scream "hype" all day.

I mean, there's a million other things to do. There's a casual room with every console under the sun, there's a PC room with games pre-loaded with all the good shit from overwatch to binding of isaac, and there's a board game room filled to the brim with damn near any popular game made in the past 10 years. If you're tired of the stream room, it's your own damn fault

The crowd was being annoying but goddamn son. you could've definitely worded that more nicely.

Why is this event so full of cringe and failure every year?

Room full of people that lack basic social skills

Even speedrunners joke that you need to be some kind of autistic to get into speedrunning. There are definitely normal runners out there but the amount of runs they have is bound to get them some weirdos.

Autism of the highest degree and lack of any social skills leads to incessant howling and shouting by people who don't and can't understand why it's annoying

off topic but how much of that money is actually going towards cancer research?

The PCF Breakdown: 35% goes toward educational material like the "Check Your Mate" posters 22% goes to funding researchers ($250,000 went to Maarten Bosland, D.VSC., PH.D.) 19% goes toward "Community Outreach" 16% goes toward "Fundraising" (which includes money spent paying "volunteers") 8% goes toward the Management and "general expenses"

thats actually pretty shit if you ask me, they should choose another charity next time there are so many charities with better splits than this. kind of a shame honestly

that's why I only donate to doctors without borders. PCF can get fucked. US centric, shit percentages, and prevention awareness is something that should be covered by government anyway.

i just looked DWB split and they defenitely spend more on actually helping people and not like posters ''awareness bullcrap'' why they chose PCF as charity i dont understand

has it been like this every year? havent watched it much last few years but i imagine they constantly have other charities each time right?

Because encouraging men to be checked for prostate cancer and women for breast cancer etc save more lives than research towards a cancer cure probably ever will for the foreseeable future.

Actually, not true. Graduating from a US medical school this year. We are no longer doing manual breast exams on women and we don't do prostate exams on men or check PSA levels unless symptomatic. Screening like mammography is still used, but tons of less accurate screening methods are being phased out. Cancer is largely unaffected by all of these efforts. Colonoscopies are a decent exception, which can detect polyps etc before they develop into full blown cancer

For those wondering why, it's because false positives lead to useless "treatments". The amount of stress and money and time people spend following up on ultimately benign hints of illness just was counter productive. The extra testing and preventative treatments that resulted ultimately did more harm than good.

Well the other post that was posted first got removed, but anyways, you may not like the cries but holy cow was that the wrong thing to say.

Why are you guys so buttblasted? Okay, he might've said something rude, but the crowd was completelly obnoxious and deserved every bit of that insult. It's not like they'll go kill themselves after that.

AGDQ has to be the most cringe, awkward and painful thing i have ever seen. It might as well be the worlds largest gathering of autists. How can people watch this shit?

    That's a seriously question btw.

I just laugh at the cringy situations and enjoy the gamebreaking gameplay. Dont have to be so negative about it. Just have a good laugh.

You have to understand how obnoxious this crowd is going to be. If you can't handle it don't go.

I know it's overused, but "Savage" is a very fitting term here.
