No. There now we don't need too watch an 8 minute video on judging white people for not stanning Kennedy and Jasmine. Apparently all the black queens are portrayed as just mean and angry (conveniently ignoring Jaidynn, Latrice, Vivacious, Monica, Honey, Milan, Lineysha, Dita, Kenya, Lashauwn, Miss Henny, Sahara, Tatianna, and BeBe). Oh and when RuPaul is being sassy he's actually putting on black face. Because that makes sense.

And oh look at that she has a tumblr. Never would have guessed with video titles such as the history of whiteness, speaking over nerds of color, is 'hey guys' transphobic, what do you think of truscum and my personal favourite and what about the irish slaves.

Edit: OMFG I REMEMBER WHO THIS BITCH IS NOW. She's extremely antisemitic and had a bunch of tumblr posts a few months ago calling jews greedy and sneeky and shit. She was agreeing with neo-nazis and everything. Holy fucking shit lol.

No. Bad. Stop. No.

If a queen wants to play up her blackness, that's her thing. I don't understand how she can focus on just two queens on what is probably the weakest season of the show and ignore every other black contestant who ever competed. You have black queens like Jaidynn (who was on the same season as Jasmine and Kennedy but mysteriously ignored on this video), Mariah, and Trinity who are also black but didn't get nasty edits. I don't know, it's like black queens are individuals who are different from one another and have different personalities. Usually (that's the keyword here) when a queen gets a nasty edit, there's ample reason both on and off the show to validate why she got that edit (like Tyra Sanchez who won her season despite that edit). Why don't I ever see posts like this about other non-white queens like Roxxxy and Phi Phi?

But you know what? Everything is problematic nowadays. She's definitely a Tumblr SJW who says stupid shit like Pop Tarts are problematic and everyone needs to boycott them immediately and I've fucking had it!

Did Jasmine and Kennedy deserve getting nasty edits and angry hate mail from people? No, that was fucked up. Are you grouping them with every other black queen on the show and saying that the show treats them all the same? Yes.

Child, sit down.

I think a lot of ya'll are going very all or nothing on this in a way that just isn't right. I'll just share my thoughts, even though i'm a little late.

Yes, there are things about RPDR and its surrounding media / post-show stuff that could be fixed. BOTS being basically all-white is sketchy as fuck, queens of color are often encouraged to play up stereotypes of their own culture because RuPaul finds it funny, and a bunch of other minor shit. At the end of the day, it's a show about Real People who live in a world that does still suffer from racism, and it's kind of natural that some of that will infiltrate in. That's not an apology, but i'm just saying that RPDR isn't really any different than any other reality show in that regard.

However, RPDR does do a lot of things right that others don't. In terms of diversity, it pretty much gets an A+ - we've had T girls, queens of all colors, shapes, and sizes - and while some of them end up fitting stereotypical or racist roles, there are plenty more that do not that are simply ignored by arguments like these for the the sake of that argument.

I think it's correct to be somewhat critical of certain parts of RPDR, but I don't think it's fair to paint it as especially racist. It does quite a good job. Kat Blaque is very off/on for me - she has good points but a lot of her arguments tend to end up in a place where it is virtually impossible not to be problematic.

[–]givemeunbeso🚆 Choo Choo DeTrain 7 ポイント8 ポイント  (0子コメント)

Eh, i dunno. I'm not black or trans so it's clear that my experience with the show will be different than hers and that I would be sensitive to different things. Imo we shouldn't judge people for criticizing the show because lbr it's not perfect and I think people definitely fo need to stop trying to shut down criticism by yelljng "waaaah you're too PC". That said when it comes to her criticism itsrlf...she does have a point about the way kennedy and jasmine are treated but....how much of that is caused by editing and how much of that is caused by racist fans? And she seems to be forgetting how Trinity and jaidynn were portrayed, which was fairly different. As for how she feels about Ru...eh. the way she worded it is clumsy and borderline offensive even though i think lots of people share her views on him sounding contrived. Like who?

Ginger got as much of a backlash as Kennedy and Jasmine when she criticized the younger queens for not being "talented" because they were not pageant queens like her. Hell, she's the one who started all of it. People called her out on being an instigator all season long. The only difference is that Ginger always ended up back-peddling and offered an half-assed apology whenever she'd insult someone. People were willing to give her a pass because she could at least take responsibility for what she said.

Coco Montrese took herself too seriously compared to Alyssa and acted like an hypocrite. She called Alyssa out for doing poorly in challenges just to save herself with the lip-sync, when in reality she's the one who did that twice. And she never looked at how orange she fucking looked.

Shangela was seen as a bitch by some, and others thought it was Delta, Raja and Manila who were awful. The majority of her criticism was about her lack of experience. It wasn't because she was black, it was because she was green.

When you look at the least favorite queens every season, race is really not a pattern. Rebecca Glasscock, Raven and Tyra, Heathers or Boogers, Phi Phi, Roxxxy and Coco, Laganja and Darienne, Ginger and Kennedy... It's a mixed bag.

[–]yojohnny_Bob the Drag Queen 6 ポイント7 ポイント  (6子コメント)

From my calculations, more than 50 of the 100 queens on the show are PoC. This upcoming season has a cast with more PoC queens than white queens. She literally chose to focus on two queens that were up there on the list of most controversial queens on the show's history, while disregarding EVERY other black queen. Is this show perfect? Is she slightly off base on Ru's style - more a club style than anything else - yes. But, the show does have a horrible problem with casting African-American queens who will fit into a negative sterotype. Here's hoping Bob and Naomi can defeat that edit...

    [–]luoyali 1 ポイント2 ポイント  (47子コメント)

The systemic racism of Reddit always reveals itself with these posts. Jasmine and Kennedy received death threats and were called NIGGERS endlessly on social media for being "stereotypically" black queens. These constitute racial aggressions. End of discussion.

That's the fanbase being shitty, not the show/producers/editors. The show deals out bad edits but it's not exclusively to black queens. Mimi, Laganja, Phi Phi, Roxxxy, Ginger, Darienne, and Kandy all got bad deals from editing so even though the show fucks black queens over, it's not discriminating solely against them.

What do you suggest the editors and producers do with a black queen who comes into the workroom playing up the "sassy" role? No one is forcing them to do it and it may just be their personality. In fact, many blacks in general feel the need to harp up the "sassy" persona and I feel drag queens feel even more pressure to do it. But how is it the fault of RPDR if these queens are representing that? Not to mention the fact that there have been plenty of non-stereotypical black queens on the show as well. Hell, even Trinity was very vocal about dismissing the "ghetto" stereotype and she wanted nothing to do with it.

All the minorities on this show seem to play up their race. Manila was mentioning Asian stereotypes all the time and the PR queens become "spicy latinas".

it's so funny how much self awareness some people lack. like there is such an obvious bias in the fandom against black queens. like some white queens are loved for being sloppy and just looking a plain old mess (in what has been called the olympics of drag for that matter!) while a black queen could do the same thing and would be mocked and criticized by the fans. how much do you wanna bet people would have loved that look that kennedy did when she "crystallized" if someone like say milk did it? or like how white queens are generally loved for being bitchy (i have yet to meet someone who doesn't like raven) but think black queens are awful and don't deserve to be on the show because they are bitchy (kennedy davenport). also rupaul is friends with and has defended shirley q liquor who does blackface so i think at the very least rupaul and his relationship to his own blackness is questionable and concerning.

Honestly, the show isn't racist. They edit these people to look bad, but it is not the shows fault, it is the viewers fault for acting like the person is truly an evil Asshole when in reality they know they were edited to look worse.
