This is my first tax season without my ex and my son, (only my second overall). Last year I lived with my ex and our son and worked and provided over half the year, before breaking up and eventually moving out. Being the primary provider for over half of the time is pretty much the criteria you have to meet in order to be able to claim your child during tax season. (Last year I claimed him with no problem. But this year, my ex is Telling me that she will report me for fraud if I claim my son in my taxes. When I was living with my ex, I wasn't on our apartment lease or anything, I was just paying cash, and I imagine she will try to use this against me. She's always been financially abusive but this is ridiculous. What the fuck do I do
