First of all Dean INSISTED it be Downtown, an area short on space and already a clusterfuck of traffic. The stadium would have bypassed an environmental survey, has no restrictions on sound and light, provided no plan for how to tackle/reroute traffic and parking (taken care of by the city, would have eliminated Petco's tailgate lot and Mission Brewery, and would have required the city to front a HUGE bond to be paid from the General Fund. The General Fund would have been increased by an increase hotel tax, but that is still money that could be better spent by the city on literally anything--not to subsidize a fucking billionaire. Not to mention this was the only plan Dean ever actual came up with, the only one ever brought up to a vote.

Get your damn facts straight before you cast judgment, citizens did not want half a billion of city tax revenue to be spent on a single private company--with that same company keeping the vast majority of the profits. It was a bad deal for the city.
