I built my first PC when I was 10 years old and I've build loads since. Last night I came home with new case, motherboard, cooler and ram to replace my old ones. I started at 8pm just after my son went to bed. I told my girlfriend "it'll only take an hour or so".

.....

Fast forward to 2:30am and I'm dismantling it for the second time after I plugged it in, the graphics card LED flashed and then then nothing. No power. Now I'm shitting myself thinking I've fried over £2000 worth of kit. Took it a part, plugged in my old mobo and it works. Put it back together and third time lucky it works. Tidied up my living room and desk and finally went to bed at 4am. Four hours later I'm sat on the bus going to work. I thought ghank fuck its Friday and then I remembered I have to work tomorrow and Sunday day too. 😣

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Yeah the first time it didnt cause the power switch was plugged in the wrong way

What did you do wrong then?

First time the power switch jumper was the wrong way around. Second time.. I have no idea. I tried 5 times unplugging and plugging back in the Psu and turning on but no power.

In NZ for a short family holiday from Sydney, so far has lived up to the hype. The views are spectacular.

North or South Island? Or both?

South. Don't have much time off so could only do one island.

Anyone seen the Nintendo Switch presentation? Was so good, can't wait till march.

I will not be baited by another Nintendo console.

Amazing games but not enough.

There was lots of pessimism over on the Nintendo subreddit but I feel like there are huge positives, with the largest being Zelda, by God it looks amazing. Unfortunately for Nintendo that's going to be on the Wii U and that's the best thing they had going for Switch. I just hope it works out, I feel like it'll be more popular than the wiiu but still very underwhelming. I hope that I'm wrong.

But again, I cannot wait for BotW

I'm in love with BoTW, I'm so happy it's a launch title after so much deliberation. The only downside I feel is the online subscription. One of my favourite things about Nintendo was the free multiplayer, disappointed to see it gone.

The weatherman told me there was going to be snow yesterday. If I gathered all the snow in my street, I could make one shit snowball. I got up early thinking would be difficult to get into work, and it's merely just cold fs.

I really want really heavy snow, like knee height deep. Open the door, nope, close the door and go back to bed. Watch the country shut down as no one knows what to do.

I was thinking of buying SAF's book but then I realised he has 2 out. Has anyone here read both and if so, which would you say is better?

2 just adds some extra detail onto 1 (I believe)

My Autobiography is better in the way that it has a lot of great anecdotes, stories and SAF's experiences managing United. It also has some great chapters on some players and one on the Class of 92.

Leading contains a lot more of the psychology of football management, what it takes to be a manager and the likes.

i'd say go with My Autobiography.

First one is better, but it only leads up to 1999 if I remember correctly. Second one follows on really and adds more stuff to his youth.

Get both.

I presume most of you are either British or Anglophiles. I love British culture very much, mostly sitcoms or better phrased - comedy tv shows. Could you recommend me some of the lesser-know like Garth Marenghi's Darkplace or Operation Good Guys? I watched almost all of the famous shows: IT Crowd, Blackadder, Only Fools and Horses, Stateman, Fawlty Towers, Red Dwarf, Monty Python's, Allo Allo, Black Books, Yes Minister, You Rang, Mlord, The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret...(the listed are the ones I liked the most).

Thanks!

Although it's not British (none of you start with this lol) there's a show called Father Ted about a house of Irish priests that's absolutely fucking hilarious to this day and is very much in line with those shows sense of humour and I think you would enjoy it!

Although it's not British (none of you start with this lol)

There's nothing for anybody to start, you got it right haha.

Father Ted amazing though, definitely back this up if OP hasn't seen it. One of those all time classic shows! Ardal O'Hanlon (guy who plays Dougal) also has another show where he goes around investigating footballs fiercest/most passionate rivalries, it's pretty cool.

I know lol it's just I've seen Irish things referred to as being British before and it makes me...really...really....angry :(

Stop, I feel the pain haha. Like that thread the other day about Jose being the first non-British manager....blood boiling...haha.

Father Ted is unreal though. Peep Show (very much British lol) is another one OP didn't mention. Just finished re-watching that from the start, it's on Netflix which makes it so easy to watch in order. It really is amazing as well haha

Don't think anything pisses off us Irish more than the English claiming our famous people as being Brits, it happens all the fucking time and is a joke considering the history our countries have.

Have you seen Spaced with Simon Pegg, or Peep Show?

Spaced is great. The episode with Wheels is superb

Mighty Boosh, Spaced, Green Wing, Father Ted, The Fast Show and Peep Show would be my choices of ones you don't have listed.

Edit: also, if you like some of the older stuff, I'd recommend The Two Ronnies and Porridge.

Inbetweeners, Little Britain, Only fools and horses. Absolute classics

I'm so looking forward to the game this Sunday, and just finished the Zlatan documentary on Netflix that someone mentioned earlier. It's really interesting seeing him from such a young age.

That being said, I have to go back to Uni next week and im kind of dreading the stress and workload that I'll be receiving.

So I started this account maybe 3 years ago or so and today is probably going to be my last day with it (if not today, it's for sure gone over the weekend).

Literally knew nothing about reddit when I started it, literally only made it because someone told me they talk about football (and United) in detail on here. I never knew how reddit worked but learned along the way, eventually finding out there were other subs too, like r/soccer, or other clubs and even ones that have nothing to do with football at all! Who'd have thunk it! Due to my lack of knowledge, I made an account that bears striking similarities to my own real life name (some might say there are no differences at all in fact). Now that I'm into my 20s I've realised that that probably isn't the best idea haha.

But because I was only here for the football talk I never looked, noticed or cared about the karma points. I've just checked my account details out of interest before I delete it and it seems I've gathered up 19,974. I need 26 points to hit 20,000 - so now, for the first time ever, I have an (albeit very mild) interest in my karma points. I weirdly kinda wanna hit 20k, it seems a nice round number to mic drop on!

It's been a pleasure fellas, but I'll be back. A man must have no name.

Made my second reddit account (this one) after I deleted my first one a month ago. Addiction's kicking in boys.

Dreading going back to school on Monday, have a shit ton of work left and will probably get none of it done, being the chronic procrastinator that I am.

Also this week has been the biggest fuck you in the face. Cockblocks every time I got to see my girlfriend and its fucking frustrating that we haven't done anything yet. Also got a gig cancelled for which I'd been preparing for a couple of weeks.

Edit: a word

On the bright side, bought a few nice books and hope we smash the scum on Sunday.

Addiction's kicking in boys.

Leave, get the fuck off this site whilst you still can, it consumes you, it hooks you in and doesn't let go.

I did, and ended up lurking for weeks. Its too late now.

well, kiss goodbye to all other websites buddy because sweet mother of god this place is like heroin to me.

What books if you don't mind me asking? 1 of my new years resolutions was to actually read more because i never do, anything to recommend?

I bought Zlatan's biography, Johnny got his Gun by Dalton Trumbo and The Time Paradox by Philip Zimbardo, quite a mixed bag.

If you don't read a lot then it'd be helpful if you started by reading books that interest you, such as United related books or biographies of footballers or books which have spawned film adaptations which you like.

In my final year of uni and have hated my degree the whole way through. So desperate to finish. On the plus side I turn 21 at the end of this month, thinking of getting a shirt with Herrera on the back to match up!

In my first year of college and my mate in my course acts a complete twat every time we all go out and he's started on 3 lads in our course (myself included) and claims he has "issues" and is honestly burning a lot of bridges with people and I kinda pity the lad.

Sent a message into our group chat last night saying "Cheers for that you cunt fuck off" to one of the nicest lads in the course, and also has tried to creepily pull a bird I have an on/off thing with in the course and gets pissed at me for saying he's being a freak.

So much more to it but fuck I'm getting sick of him.

claims he has "issues"

Sounds like he might well do. Is he the kind of guy that's likely to talk about them, if given the chance?

We'll see, he told my other mate this. And on a night out when he started shit with me I was so close to just standing up and punching him as he was doing so much that warranted it but my mate said "man he told me he's going through shit" sooo it's kinda a sitch where I'm not meant to know this if you get me.

Yeah, see what you mean. Sounds like he's being an arsehole, but it's rare that people do that for no reason. Is anyone actually close enough to him to know what's going on/happened?

Sit down and have a talk with the guy. If he's willing to talk about it and try to work on the issues, then give him another chance. If he ain't, leave the guy to his shit.
