Intelligence agencies should never have allowed this fake news to "leak" into the public. One last shot at me.Are we living in Nazi Germany?
The fascinating/horrifying thing about our collective reaction to Donald Trump is that we focus on smaller, clearer breaches of public decorum over the deeper, more worrying signs of a serious personality disorder.
For instance, in this tweet, we get caught up on Trump Godwinning the argument because it's so ridiculous. We can't believe it, so we assume he doesn't really believe it either. But let's look at what he's actually saying.
Intelligence agencies should never have allowed this fake news to "leak" into the public. One last shot at me.
1) Trump is taking this personally. He seems to think that intelligence agencies--as a collective--intentionally leaked this report to harm him. He takes investigations into him as a personal affront.
2) This can be read as a threat. They should never have crossed Trump. From what we know, Donald Trump is obsessed with revenge. As we've seen, he isn't rising to office of the Presidency but dragging it down to his level. His disorder is pathological.
3) We should take Trump at his word. Donald Trump literally feels as though intelligence agencies are Nazi Germany.
4) He has appointed Michael Flynn, who believes that stories of Russian hacking are conspiracy theories and is close to Russia himself, as Director of National Intelligence.
5) Trump and Flynn are planning to punish the CIA, moving it out of Washington (so it is disconnected from Congress, with whom it shares intelligence) and weakening it. This tweet indicates that he is thinking about punishing the FBI as well.
6) Note: This is only the start of the investigation. There is plenty of evidence that Trump actually was bailed out from bankruptcy by the Russian mob in association with the Kremlin.
We can expect the PEOTUS, upon taking office, to immediately go after the CIA and FBI in an attempt to gain control over them and shut down the investigations into him, which he sees as a personal insult (and also an existential threat to his empire).
And final food for thought:
7) Trump the PEOTUS has behaved exactly like Trump the candidate. Trump the candidate also promised to fire the generals--which would allow him to assert control over the military as well.
