NRB announced yesterday that Rev. Donald E. Wildmon – the founder and chairman emeritus of American Family Association and American Family Radio – will receive its 2017 "Hall of Fame Award" at the organization's upcoming annual convention.

In describing Wildmon, NRB president and CEO Dr. Jerry Johnson said families across America have benefited from the "tireless efforts" of Wildmon and AFA over many years.

"It can, at times, be difficult to stand up for what is right," Johnson stated, "but Don and AFA have done so these past four decades as part of their commitment to protect families across the nation – thereby protecting the very building block of our society."

AFA began in 1977 as the National Federation for Decency; the ministry's name was changed to American Family Association in 1988. The American Family Radio network – launched in 1991 – now offers three different formats across almost 200 stations.

Wildmon will receive the award on Thursday, March 2, at the NRB International Christian Media Convention in Orlando, Florida.
