Lets all be honest.. DLC is not being used for the correct reasons.. Developers are now purposely leaving out content from their full priced $60 games, to sell you at a later date to make even more money..

Square Enix $25 season pass DLC (which they already had planned in August despite the game not coming out until November) is a perfect example of this..

This is almost half the price of the full game at launch they are charging you to explain things that went on during the game, and give characters actual development that was sorely lacking from the main story like you see in most FF games.

I obviously won't be buying but this actually makes me sick to my stomach to all the people willing to put more money into square enix grubby little hands for this game..

This whole thing seems unethical.. Should there be a law that prevents developers from charging for DLC (free DLC and patches to fix their game and make up for their mistakes is fine) and purposely leaving out content for more profit?

DLC was the worst invention for players and the best for companies because they can release games that are unfinished or extremely barebones and charge for missing components or added.

There are some companies that do it well where it can enhance the overall game, but in many cases it's micro-transactions or things that should have always been there in the first place.

The worst part is the massive amount of data DLC and patching can take up. Patching is not the same as DLC, but there are many times there are bugs in DLC which require patches. It's always a rush for profit. Quantity over quality.

No law. There should only be laws to protect false advertising against companies directly claiming something is in a game, but actually requires additional purchases, which isn't the case here.

Gamers simply need to vote with their wallet. If you don't like it, don't buy it. If the strategy doesn't work, they wouldn't do it.

If it wasn't cut content, it's fine.

People need to learn from their mistakes. SE Japan has not released a game worth buying in the last 10 years, that should have been enough of a warning not to buy or waste one's time on this.

Indeed.

I know this is a bit of a hard concept to grasp tc, but SE having announced a season pass prior to the games release isn't proof of them purposely holding back content for dlc. It's proof that they know they're going to do dlc and want people to buy the season pass while the game is new and exciting.
I can only assume that Trump supporters had to have received their education at Trump 'University'.

It depends.. certain games have amazing dlc, like every Soulsborne game (it's not content that was simply cut then sold seperately..) or MH with free monthly dlc (for about a year usually) that adds new monsters or even new gear

I've never been "tricked" into buying a game. I either wanted it or I didn't. Most games I wait until reviews are out to see if it's an actual game or not.

Blindly buying shiny stuff with no extra effort is on consumers.
