Hey y'all, /u/broosh here!

While we wait for the ruveal, the mods and I have been making some updates in the rules (aka Reddiquette) for /r/rupaulsdragrace to ensure a better viewing experience for Season 9.

Please feel free to check the sidebar and our new wiki with detailed do's and oh-no-she-betta-don'ts on the sub.

Let's go over them, shall we?

- General Reddiquette must be followed at all times

 

- No SPOILERS in titles (Note: we're improving the spoiler system as we speak. A separate post will be made once we make the finishing touches to it)

 

- No Illegal viewing links/livestreams/torrents/Unofficial YouTube episode links are Permitted

 

- Use the Search Bar BEFORE POSTING your questions

 

- "There's a difference between reading and being a downright bitch" (Self explanatory, read wiki for detailed explanation on a more detailed explanation)

 

- No low-effort/unoriginal, shitposts or karma whoring

Ok, so this is new. In an effort to increase quality content in the sub, we'll be removing any overused memes, screencaps, gifs, shitposts, etc. Try to include the original link to said content (IG, twitter, etc, or public facebook links) whenever possible. Mods will use this rule on a case-by-case basis. If you feel like your post was wrongfully removed, please PM us directly for review.

 

- NO Grindr/Scruff/etc. posts or sharing of personal information, please

Update: failure to follow the rule will result in an immediate ban.

 

- When posting a selfie/M&G photo with the queens, a description of the event/performance/meeting must be included

 

Whether in the comments or title. Please let us know where it was taken. Also, share your experience! We'd love to know how it went in the comments. Try to avoid overly-worded titles.

 

- Post titles should searchable by future community members

It'll only be to your benefit. Trust.

 

- Report content that is against sub rules

This one is a little weird to me. Like, I get it and I get the need to have some sort of quality control to the shitposting, but I'm a little concerned it might turn into "don't post shit the mod team doesn't find funny".

IDK, I guess only time will tell...

we did a dry run of this last dry season when it got out of hand. the r/gravityfalls sub did the same thing with the Joaje flare-up. it did help a bit to right the ship. but we'll just have to see what the mods deem appropriate here.

Again, I feel like we do a pretty good job on what's posted on the sub. If you feel like the post has been wrongfully removed, the best way to get our attention is to PM us. We just want to steer away redditors to post solely for the karma, as opposed to featuring genuine content on the sub.

If you feel like a post has been wrongfully removed, please PM us. Usually whenever something trends, we see a flood of posts take the sub (like spongebob memes, poem posts, etc.). Like the Jasmine posts, we'll make a megathread...but sometimes stuff pops up that has been overused and people are just doing it for karma.

Ok, that makes sense, although it's gonna depend a lot on you guys putting up the stickied megathreads. But there's new additions to the team so I trust that y'all won't be too busy to do it. I'm rooting for you, mods!

Personally I feel like megathreats are really ineffective. I usually just ignore them because they are always there and I never look to see if they're updated. Most of the time, non stickied posts get more attention than the stickied ones.

Maybe if the mods can come up with a way where the sticked threads are more noticeable?

Maybe if people get accustomed to using megathreads instead of screaming into the void of shitposts, then those threads will be more useful.
