So the idea is to just reduce the meat from diets up until none is consumed?

Yup.

That is much more reasonable than using scare tactics and making people feel guilty over what they've been doing all their life. Are the vegan examples in this subreddit just idiots that don't represent the vegan ideals properly, or am I missing something?

Yeah they're just idiots used to fuel stereotypes.

As for the convenience, don't vegan diets require you to eat much more and spend more money? I as under the impression it was, since most menus with vegan options cost more in my experience. It seems hard to make people be comfortable with the idea of eating a lot and chipping in more money for the sake of creatures that they genuinely don't care about.

Nah it's been way cheaper for me. I buy rice and beans and lentils and onions and whatever in bulk and cook lots of big batches. Where I live is also very vegan friendly.

B12! That's it. It's very cheap? Well, that's alright then. I thought they were something like 20$ dollars every couple days or something.

Haha no way, you can get B12 drops that are like $20 for a year's worth on amazon.

Thanks for the response.

Anytime! Thanks for not being super anti vegan like many people on reddit.

Not everything has to be efficient. I think we can allow ourselves to enjoy some things.

...like parenthood?

And, well, A while ago i had a dude claim farming is worse than the holocaust here on reddit. They exist. The extreme of the extreme.

Oh ok

Well, i'be heard them claiming it.

Where?

Also, yes, we should.

Why? Animal agriculture is pretty inefficient.

Not him but, assuming you are vegan and assuming you want others to be vegan as well:

What would be done with the animals used in the industry? Is there a plan for where they would be sent?

Demand would slowly taper out over time, there wouldn't be any animals to send anywhere.

I'm not against veganism, but I think completely getting rid of meat is a drastic change for society and therefore it won't happen by trying to make people feel morally bad about it. I think the best way to approach it is to slowly make dietary changes that favor less meat until it is viable to maintain is meat-free.

Vegans are doing that by supporting companies like Fields Roast and Just Mayo.

Do you agree in some way? I eat meat because it is more convenient and often times tastier than vegetables. If there were a simpler, easier and more affordable way to eat healthier and without meat I would, but since it isn't socially wrong to eat meat, I don't feel enough remorse to go out of my way to change the way I consume.

I think that it's easy once you get into it, just like anything.

I digress but, what would happen to the animals? What would happen to that protein that isn't in food? I forgot which one it is that is only found in meat and you need to intake with a pill. Isn't the problem that it is somewhat expensive and the producers don't expect a lot of buyers anyway?

B12 and it's very cheap. Most farm animals get B12 supplements, in fact.

I imagine the animal problem would be done slowly, but then what is the expectancy for the rest of the animals? Take care of them until they die naturally? Wouldn't that be an economical disaster?

Kill em, whatever, so long as you're not breeding more I think it's better all things considered.

Sorry if it sounds like I'm ranting, but there are a lot of stuff about veganism that don't ring well with me. I'd love to hear your opinion.

No problem

We're humans. We have destroyed our own instincts. Took over the world. We have billions. We can snap ants in half, heal massive injuries, survive destructive diseases, enslave animals.

But the question is should we do these things?

Claiming that a fucking cow is equal to us is foolish and misguided.

That's not what vegans claim.

Because concerning yourself with what strangers eat makes you a twat.

What about things like foie Gras and factory farms? Do you think that they're okay?

I don't try to guilt trip vegans into eating meat, they shouldn't try the opposite to me.

Well you don't think being vegan is morally wrong. Vegans think eating animals is morally wrong. There's the asymmetry.

Dead subreddit. If you want to see a genuine loser on a hate brigade, check out u/icedwraith and r/antivegan.

I think he's given up though. Good for him!

How do you even know that a vast majority are a certain way? You're pretty much just saying "stereotypes are true".

Examples: lots of cognitive biases are natural. Using vaccines, the internet, etc., isn't very natural.

OK so saying that were omnivores doesn't mean that eating animals is okay. You're gonna need a different justification.

In both cases, people don't think they're doing something wrong and don't want others to tell them they are. But in the mind of a vegan, both are doing something wrong. The analogy is so folks try to understand that vegans genuinely believe that killing animals for your benefit is wrong.

Sure, there are big differences in severity, but a comparison of type is not a comparison of degree. They're not slave owners, but they have similar attitudes to slave owners about the compared actions.

The idea is that saying "it's good because it's natural" or "it's bad because it's unnatural" isn't really a good argument because lots of natural behaviors are bad and lots of unnatural ones are good. I can give you some examples if you'd like.

No. There's no way you can read my post and think that I believe that. They are not equal. They are not of similar severity. But they are similar in type, in regards to complaining about folks trying to convince them to stop.
