That's a really good family right there. Just everything about it... His mom crying with you, your boyfriend finding it hilarious, and his dad finding humor in it even though he literally broke himself.

I love you for this comment. Are you single? Well, it doesn't really matter, cause I'm married, and my wife has this problem with sharing. I tried to explain to her that it was really about having fun together, but she didn't buy it. Got any advice?

Hey, do you have any definition for these, as which kind of male friend of yours qualify as a slut?

Any of them if I'm feeling particularly banterous. I'll just walk into a room and introduce myself by yelling "DYLAN YOU SLUT"

It's great. A lot of people find me obnoxious, but that's perfectly reasonable and I try to tone it down around them because of it. Unless they go off at me, then I extract sadistic pleasure by being as obnoxious as possible :)

There's also being a "work slut": needing remuneration for services...A "couch slut": one over-attached/ comfortable on the couch...Or any combination of noun + slut = friend doing whatever they're doing.

I am surprised the boy has a girlfriend living in his childhood home with his parents. How many women are ok with that arrangement? One of my girlfriends in college ridiculed me endlessly for still living with my mother at the age of 21. I believe her exact words were, 'loser' and 'no future.'

Culture also possibly changed since then (I have no idea how old you are now). Brother has a girlfriend, still lives at home, working to be a civil engineer and has a promising future. His girl friend, stil lives at home, working to be a nurse and works two or three jobs.

meanwhile im a fuckup

Neither of them can justify paying for a house on top of university tuition.

It's also possible your girlfriend is what people call 'a bitch'.

well she must have been rich or entitled or something. Not many people can afford their own place fresh out of school with today's wages and housing costs. (source: am middle class; have done this arrangement)

A-fucking-men. Lived off and on with my parents after college to help get on my feet, am 31 and still think it might be a smart financial move to move back in...gf says I'm ridiculous.

Am 27. Just had to move back with my uncle for a while. Not rich like this guy.

Seriously. There's reasons beyond that too for multi-gen in one household-I moved back in with my parents to both help me out and to be another caretaker for my grandfather, who also moved in because he couldn't afford going to a care home. He passed last year and I'm still with my rents because cost of living has skyrocketed in my area in just a few years. I can't afford to move out unless I put myself in a ridiculous situation (I was offered a spot in a rented household that already has six people in it. I still would've been on a tight budget and I would've had to share a bedroom. Fuckin' nope.) and it's easier to save money and chill where I'm at. The only people who truly care are those who care too much what others think or those that are rich.

She sounds like you dodged a bullet. My sons girlfriend lives with us- they're both in local colleges and it's so much cheaper to live with us. They go to school all day, work every evening except Sunday, and for the small amount of time they're even in the house, it's big enough that if they want some privacy they can use the TV room, the living room or the bedroom. She's as much a part of our family as any of my three kids and I think I'd probably have the same reaction as the OP. They've been together coming up on 3 years and she moved in a year ago.

I live in Los Angeles, so the glitz and glamor of being independent, rich, and famous is pretty much instilled in every child the moment they're old enough to learn those concepts. Every kid has it drilled in their heads that if they don't move out at 18-22, they are considered losers, pathetic moochers, a scummy government aid sucking flea, undesirable in every aspect (especially sexually), etc.

Well that sucks-so it's better to go an extra 5-8K in debt for housing every year while attending college than taking advantage of free opportunities? That is stupid and I'm sorry.

Agreed. Its more mature to plan your future and prepare for it financially.

I hope you're young enough to realize that and have capitalized on that early, started thinking about the future way too late

I moved to LA from Florida in August 2015 for work in an industry that's growing and to say the least most people are underpaid. I'm always in a state of panic some financial fiasco is going to put me in a very bad situation, not that it's very stable now. Being a flea isn't sounding so bad.

One possibility is that they are Chinese. One of the biggest family cultural differences from America is that living at home is the most grown up, future-driven thing you do, especially when you're dating, engaged, or married. There is a strong sense of family and living at home is seen as mature, responsible, loving and caring for your parents, and being smart by saving money for the future. It is extremely common for girlfriends, boyfriends, husbands or wives to live with their partner on their family home.

It isn't the case of "I'm too immature and useless to live on my own and need my parents to do everything for me, and I'm broke with no money", it's the opposite.

That's true. I'm an expat in China and have refused to let my wives parents live with us about 50 times.

Can confirm. My chinese gf was amazed that I didn't have a half million in the bank, 3 investment properties and that I didn't live with my 80yo parents. She is 16 years younger than me and has more cash in her savings account than I have ever seen in one place

Once you've seen a glimpse into the Chinese/Chinese-American upper class culture you'll have no problem understand why they are the only minority in America soundly whooping white people in the positive statistics.

I can't say for certain that their lifestyle makes you any happier or more fulfilled, but from a societal standpoint it does a lot of positive things.

Jewish people - Ashkenazim & Sephardic alike - are 'whooping' them too. (& arguably Indian too but it's a diverse group)

The fuck kind of rich neighbourhood are you from? If you're living alone (no roommates no family) by 25 you're doing fantastic here. Most people still live with their parents until a few years after college/uni which usually runs till 23-25 for a lot of people.

Actually, I bet it's the one where they first broke up over the ring. That's the most emotional episode, in my opinion. Then again, my name is also Donna.

The one that always got me was when Eric basically has a ghost from Christmas past experience and he is asking for every memory of Donna to be taken away and at the end he is being shown all the memories and suddenly he changes his mind and asks to keep them.

That sounds vaguely similar to the plot of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

[–]Sevastopol_Station 7 ポイント8 ポイント  (1子コメント)

Well the episode is literally named "It's a Wonderful Life".

No, not the ghost visiting the past part. That's obviously been done dozens and dozens of times. It's similar to Eternal Sunshine in the plot about wanting to delete the memories of your ex until you actually see and reexperience them. Then you regret wanting to get rid of them when you see all the happier times you had together.
