It is looking increasingly likely that Schneiderlin will be moving out this window. Schweini and Carrick's days are also numbered and United must look for reinforcements in the defensive midfield. That position has recently become key to getting the most out of our star man Pogba and the midfield trio seem to be working excellently both with and without possession.

So I feel Jose should waste no time in ensuring that a player comes in or is promoted from within our squad.

Now I feel there are two players within our squad who could take up that role.

1)Daley Blind Quite similar to Carrick. Primary strengths being excellent interceptions, composure in possession and overall intelligence. Also has the vision to attempt those odd cross field hollywood balls. Sadly made few errors this season and has not had too many chances to impress. He will almost be a like to like replacement for Carrick.

2) TFM He could definitely play there, but remains to be seen if he is defensively sound enough. Would have to work a lot on his positioning as he is still raw. I would prefer for him to be moulded into a combative B2B midfielder with his excellent surges and good movement.

Now if we were to look to buy, I suggest we buy someone that would best complement the Pogba Herrera duo. Probably someone who will sit back and just shore up the defence and stay back to recycle the possession when play breaks down. I would personally prefer someone with a little more bite than what Carrick provides and yet offer the same intelligence in intercepting and starting moves. After going through some players and reviewing their performance this season, I have the following suggestion to make.

Ignacio Camacho Excellent midfield destroyer and is also a set piece threat. Will bring that bite into our midfield as he loves a tackle. He is technically sound too and is a decent passer of the ball. Will probably slot straight into the first team. https://www.whoscored.com/Players/35199
