Hate comparisons between Rooney and Sir Charlton (self.reddevils)

Great day for Wayne today to equal Sir Bobbys record but all I can hear is people raving about how Wayne scored it in 200 games less. You simply can't compare the two because :

  1. Bobby played much deeper for most of his career.
  2. Huge difference in sports science , football pitches , medical facilities , balls , shoes etc.
  3. The things bobby has lived through in his life time , war , Munich disaster etc.

All I'm saying is don't compare two greats , just enjoy the fact that they both played for our great club.

Well , by saying one player has scored goals at a faster rate than the other , you are effectively saying they are better . All I'm saying is it's impossible to compare two players from different generations
