17' Both Young and Rojo are struggling and the latter is substituted immediately. Our English CB duo is back in business!

22' Martial has been looking very bright (although his decision making is a tad suspect as of now) and he's running at defenders and creating dangerous chances. Reading have been trying to get back into it but they're being exposed by counter attacks now.

26' Rashford is played through beautifully and he rounds Al-Habsi but his strike is into the side netting.

34' Rooney plays Rashford through with an exquisite touch but Rashford is met by Al-Habsi again and it's a corner.

35' Rooney has been outstanding today.

40' While United as a whole have been very good, it's been a frustrating day for Rashford up top as he's done everything except bag a goal.

On top of the game so far, and if not for some more clinical finishing the game would look to be all but over. Attacks have looked dangerous, in part due to Reading defending quite poorly at times.

  • With Reading's back four sitting very high when we initially win the ball back, and with pressing from their midfield and attack being inconsistent in terms of timing and numbers, we've been able to very quickly get the ball up into space for our faster players such as Martial and Rashford to run into. That said, our players have been very good at getting themselves into good positions to receive the ball and have been constantly aware of where forward runs are coming from, with Mata, Rooney, Carrick and even the centre halves able to pick the early pass into dangerous areas. Both of the faster players have been effective running the channels, being quite successful in one-on-one situations and being allowed to come back in to have the option of shooting or laying it off.

  • With how open Reading are at times in defence, and how preoccupied they are with the threats we have out wide, we could potentially look to play the ball back into central areas earlier. Rooney and Mata have often come in for late runs into the middle for cutbacks and been able to get shots away, and more of these runs could get us another goal - in the match so far, Rooney has at times made an identical run to one of Rashford and Martial, when perhaps he could be more effective in holding the run as Mata often does.

  • If anything, defending in our wide areas has been a little underwhelming, although some occasions have been to our players being higher up the pitch due to Reading playing the ball out early on the counter. Blind in particular has struggled a little with the speed possessed by the likes of McCleary, and it does look like Martial could offer more support to cover the second man when Reading do have the ball for an extended spell.

  • Good at abusing the space between midfield and the Reading defense
  • Showing some weaknesses at our LB/RB positions due to both of them being very high up the pitch to participate in attack
  • Our wide players are having such an easy time beating their man
  • Our finishing has been shite. So inaccurate and wasteful
  • Fellaini and Rooney our best two players imo
  • Rashford showing a lot of intelligent movement off the ball
  • Sad TFM remained on the bench at 2-0 at home vs Reading, hopefully he'll get 30 minutes in the second half

Truth. I listened to the phone in about diving and how to eradicate it- in the entirety of the discussion no one mentioned the fact that players are taught to go down easily.
