My mom isn't deep into politics, but Hillary terrified her. She even attended a Trump rally in October and came out just as energized as the rest of us! We do have the best mom's don't we folks?

My mom was the same way. Always voted dem before, but Hillary in particular she just absolutely dispised.

And that was before I told her about the Body Count.

Same with my mother too, I specifically avoided talking politics around her for the longest time this election season because I knew she was a lifelong dem, then one day she just randomly started tearing Hillary to shreds and supporting Trump.

I was in austin tx, at a zoes kitchen (hipster Greek food), and my family and I sat next to these two older, liberal arts professor looking women.

Bout halfway through my meal I realized one was red pilling the other hard about hillary.

It was all I could do to not jump into their conversation.

That was the moment I knew trump would win. This was right after pussygate.

My mom and grandma were both pro killary, I slowly worked them over to be anti Hillary. Half of it was just showing how long her career is, and that it was stained from the start ( kicked out of Watergate investigation, laughing at getting a rapest she knew was guilty set free.) In the end neither voted for trump but neither voted for Clinton either.

We have the best moms, folks.

When other people send their moms, they're not sending their best. They're not sending our moms. They're sending moms that have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems with them. They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good moms.

They're bringing crime. They're rapists.

I always interpreted it more like:

"They're bringing crime, [and] their rapists."

It's more consistent with the way he talks.

And far less than the direct accusation that mexicans are rapists the left likes to pretend it was.

That is exactly how he meant it as. He released the full-transcript of his speech back when the media first started lying about it and it was their. Not that the media ever reported that ofc.

He could have been advised to change it to "their" in his transcript to limit political backlash. Not that any of this really matters, but just for the sake of splitting hairs (who doesn't love splitting hairs?) I'd put forth that he did mean "They're" when he said it because every sentence in that string refers to the object individually. And the last sentence "and some I assume are good [moms]" continues that pattern. It makes more sense to me that he also meant "They're" for the rapists comment than that being an outlier.
And to clarify, I don't believe he meant "Mexicans are rapists". He simply meant that a lot of horrible people are crossing the border and that those are the ones that have rapists among them. Which of course is 100% true. Some of the people crossing the border are rapists, ergo They're rapists.

Yes, but this is Trump we are talking about. He strings everything together randomly and heads into various paths when speaking heh. I wouldn't be surprised if he really did mean their before the media backlash. Either way, it shouldn't have been as big of a deal as it was. I mean, he was just trying to cite a study that had recently come out around that time.

I think of Trump as being more direct and not caring what people think.

Therefore to me it's always been "They're rapists". We all know what he meant though. Tomato/Toma(h)to (although that's actually a bad example because I don't know a single person who calls a Tomato a Toma(h)to.) Avocado on the other hand... they are not sending their best Avocados. They're rapists.

Anyway, my mother died in 2008. I was a teenager at the time, but I recall her trying to donate money to Hillary back then but my dad stopped her. She had brain cancer so she would blow money on dumb shit and we had to stop her.

I suppose in some ways I should be grateful she passed when I was young because the things I've learned about her since make me concerned of whether or not I would be able to respect her as an adult. This text message in OP seems like something I could imagine her saying.

The problem is that most of the people who are anti-Trump that get mouthy don't even fucking do any research and don't know anything about politics. They just see facebook/twitter feeds, maybe Trump on the news a couple days a week, and hear people they know spouting off their political opinions.

According to this article and many others Gen Z will be far more conservative than any generation since the Silent Generation/Traditionalists/Generation Jones(we really need to hammer this "generation" thing down). I have seen it attributed to many factors such as "being conservative is the way teenagers are rebelling against their parents" or the simple "pendulum swing" theory in politics.

Basically all of them conclude that the SJW movement has peaked.

Yeah, I'm a Millennial myself, born in 1989, so it pains me to know that my generation became so consumed by identity politics. We must do something about the situation in our colleges though or Generation Z may be subject to childlike humiliation from the left for having conservative values which could either brainwash them or dissuade them from fighting for what they believe.

I don't have a link but a few weeks ago I read a blog post by a HS administrator. Basically he had a lot of anecdotal evidence that a lot of kids are Trump supporters, he attributed it to a form of typical teen rebellion against their parents. It was kind of funny to read his alarm at this disturbance in the force.

We will be. We were raised on baseball and Barbie. And we're the first generation that has had to deal with our way of life being severely endangered. At the end of the day, we don't like it one bit. It is human nature to absolutely treasure identity and tradition. Without it, there's chaos. It just won't stand much longer, for purely psychological reasons really. Leftism always fails because it divides.

Sounds a lot like my mom (and many other women out there), she isn't able to differentiate between emotional appeals and logical arguments.

Any time I tried to discuss Trump with my mom she'd always circle back to statements like "how would you feel explaining ___ to your future daughter" and completely avoid the issues that actually will have an impact on my future (like taxes, immigration, and economics). Even if I called her out on it she'd basically just shrug it off and say that her points are important.

and completely avoid the issues that actually will have an impact on my future (like taxes, immigration, and economics).

This is a thing with the boomers. Many don't seem to realize that if we keep going on the path we've gone on for the past 20 years, when we're 50 we're going to be living in a bunch of indebted third world countries where the tax rate is 70% of your income, it's illegal own knives or buy gasoline without a license, there's a terrorist attack at least once a day, and the government is actively trying to breed the white race out of existence.

Oh, and we'll have been involved in varying poorly explained wars of dubious importance with poorly defined goals for the past twenty years. Wars that, as someone in the Combat Arms, I'll probably have gotten killed in well before I reach 50.

I'd really rather fucking not.

Most boomers have lived a charmed life - they reaped all the benefits of the post-war era while suffering little of the responsibility or consequence that came with it (with the notable exception of people who got sucked into Vietnam). So it's no surprise that many of them are fine with maintaining the status-quo. Of course they're not all like that, just like it's not entirely fair to characterize all millennials one way or another, but there's some truth to those stereotypes.

I'm extremely glad that my boomer parents were raised the right way and have very strong conservative values. It would suck to have parents who know nothing about how the world works.

and the government is actively trying to breed the white race out of existence.

Provided everyone continues to push the narrative that white people are inherently racist, demonise white people & disregard racism against white people, or suffering of white people - they'll validate race-based attacks against white people, and provided this comes to pass within this generation, black people aren't going to be the ones who come out on top if there is a "race war", it's 12% vs. 60%.

People need to start calling racism racism, but even if they don't, I don't actually believe the above will come to pass - you can't breed racism in everyone. I don't believe that at this point in history you could instigate a race war in America.

Omg. I got this line of logic this year.

How would you feel if your daughter won the miss whatever contest and Trump called her Ms. Piggy etc. And my reply was that I'd sterilize myself. I wouldn't blame my daughter, I'd just make sure I didn't breed anymore.

A ridiculous point because I come from perfectionists.

No child of mine could accept that level of success and let everyone down after. No child of mine would think it was ok. I never put pressure on my kid. Some people are born that way. We like the heat. We like the pressure. I don't feel sorry for that ms. Piggy woman.

The toxic narcissist showers the golden child with praise, compliments, and material possessions to secure their status as an emotional slave. Narcissists are weak. The moment the slave shows any indication of desiring freedom, panic sets in and the gloves come off. Guilt trips and hysterical rants inevitably abound. Desperation in all forms. Narcissists are children. Once you realize that it's easier to ignore their nonsense.

I mention this because you having an opinion is a sign of the slave thinking about freedom. My dad recently went off on an emotional tirade over my support of Donald Trump. Disappointed in me. Embarassed. Emails pages long. On and on. This is a 59 year old man. A 59 year old man who gave me everything growing up and is regarded by those around him as the kindest man in the world. It's pathetic. Politics aside, you don't harass people. Especially your children. It's toxic. And a mere splinter of what I went through growing up.

Good luck! Happiness is understanding.

Then when my mom told me she was gonna vote Trump due to his economic brilliance, I thought to myself "wait, my mom's not racist". So I did my research, I wanted to know what the deal was with Trump. And let me tell you, after 10 minutes of reading various articles online and watching cut clips of Trump Rallies, I was hooked. Now, I'm proud to have cast my first vote for Trump. And my mother is proud to finally have a politically literate family member (none of my older siblings voted).

Currently, that would probably make him swing towards the Republican party, but I wouldn't be disappointed in him if he had views that were radically different than mine.

Everyone is different, and when you make a baby you aren't making a clone of yourself (unless you are, but even clones can probably have different political views).

Anyway, I personally feel that politics shouldn't tear a family apart... sometimes your family is just gonna have retarded political views, and that's okay.

My mom told me that she was deeply ashamed that she raised someone with that much hate and racism in their heart when I told her I was a Trump supporter... I haven't seen her in 5-6 years so it doesn't bother me too much.

My Pro-Trump mom and dad were disappointed that I voted for Ted Cruz in the primary. Then I found this Reddit watched/went to a rally, and now I'm here.

I was disappointed with my dad in the primaries because I thought he voted for Trump and not Cruz. Election night, he confirmed that suspicion and we both laughed

My mom got a twitter account for the sole purpose of following Trump. Makes for good dinner table conversation.

I hated how sexist older women assumed my GF was a Hillary supporter just because her gender.

They would talk differently to her/even close friends, when she didn't hop on their liberal lap to trash Trump. Sad.

Please excuse me, but what a wench.

If you disown or harass your kid for their political beliefs, there's a special hell for you.

[–]BELIEVE_ME_FOLKSNY 2 ポイント3 ポイント  (0子コメント)

Eh, there's nothing about this that indicates any harassment or disowning. Looks like a little bit of banter IMO. I come from a pretty liberal family, and both my mother and godmother always say to me "I can't believe you're such a Republican." I'm sure they aren't happy about it, but they never have any serious disdain or resentment over it.

I remember years ago..before Obama ran...or Hillary was announcing her run(?), my mom was so excited for Hillary to become president. Today, my mom hates her guts and swears she's the "devil" lmao.

LOL! Luckily my mother already hated Hillary. I had originally convinced her of how terrible Trump was. It took a bit of work to convince her over, but ever since she's been full-on Trump supporter. Freaked out (in a good way) when she saw he would win on election day. She thought he had 0% chance of winning because of the media, even though I had been telling her what the media was doing (she believed me but still thought he would lose). I luckily had statistics and logic (oversampling women, minorites, and Dems is a shitty way of doing polls) on my side. Even though I still couldn't believe it when he won. ;)

So happy that Trump was the first President I was able to vote for, even if it didn't matter here in Cuckvada. :P

I live with my parents (b/c I am a single mom) and my mom was the first in the house on the Trump Train. Back in March, she went to a South Florida rally and I was all "omg how can you go see that Orange Hitler." By the time of the RNC I had come around :)

THIS TRAIN HAS NO BRAKES, AND IT WON'T BE RUNNING OUT OF STEAM ANY TIME SOON! THE TRUMP TRAIN JUST GOT 1 BILLION MPH FASTER!

CURRENT SPEED: 8,788,385,117,000 MPH!

At that rate, it would take approximately 190.768 years to travel to the Andromeda Galaxy (2.5 million light-years)!

Mom asked me who I was going to vote for and I paused before letting her know, thinking she was brain washed by the media she always watches. To my surprise she said, "I don't trust Hillary at all, voting Trump."

Could not be more proud of my SoCal based, based LEGAL immigrant mother (we left the mother land for white picket fences. Read: sexist, racist, and privileged straight white male picket fences.)

My mom raised 5 kids by herself off of welfare, working full time and going to school full time until she got her masters and became a teacher. We were super poor, but every single one of us knows the value of a dollar and why it's important to work hard. She wasn't warm to trump at first, but I could see she kept liking my posts and comments on facebook praising him.
