Throwaway account. I went in for a haircut, which I really needed, to get myself in shape for the New Year. I went to a local barbershop, and the barber is this guy that has been working there for 21 years (it's his passion, and you can tell). We talk and at one point he asks me about my background like school and that sort of thing. Weirdly enough, he asks me directly if I'm married. I was confused, and I told him I'm 21 years old and single. I'm not exaggerating, the next thing this barber tells me is, "Don't get married." Super serious too, which is funny cause he was a jolly kind of guy. And for the rest of the session, he just goes on and on about all the people (men) who have come in, some of them he knew from an early age, and how their lives were changed/influenced in such a negative way when they got married. He emphasized that you do not know the real "her" until after you get married, because she has no incentive to date and impress as before. The guy at one point seemed to nearly be out of breath as he felt so strongly about this. I was very surprised because honestly I've never met anyone who felt this way in person. He compared marrying a woman to a slot machine, "you never know what you're going to get."
