Probably not, it seems like Mourinho is changing his tactics if needed but Pep seems a bit stubborn like van Gaal which could kill him.

Pep would have been excellent for United, but in hindsight, Mourinho would be more preferred due to the fact that he has PL experience with Chelsea. You can see that Pep is starting to notice that the PL is tougher than La Liga and Bundesliga due to higher competition and the winter scheduling. Plus, Mourinho has mentioned his dream was to manage United, and it's noticeable to see that he is enjoying it as much as we are

Pep: "Im nearing the end"

Jose: "I want to extend my contract"

No thank you Pep, we got the right man

van Gaal's football was enough to make me hate possession football.

After SAF's retirement, Pep was my number one choice, but that changed after watching us play possession football under van Gaal.

In hindsight, I would still have taken him in a heartbeat instead of Moyes. I'm sure he would have been a far better successor to Fergie than him and perhaps some of the pain of the last few years could have been avoided.

Having said that, given the situation we are in now would I swap tomorrow for Pep? No. Mourinho has taken to the job well, he's looked at home from the minute he walked in the door. He understands the club in a way that most managers/people don't. He's shown a willingness to adapt and change and to adopt the cultures of the club, on and off the field. Pep is quality, but Jose has earned massive respect so far, even ignoring performances on the pitch (which have also been steadily improving since his arrival).

No. I don't get a good feeling about him, I don't think he has any fight in him whatsoever & cracks are already starting to show at city. I think his tactics are far to expansive for a league as competitive and unpredictable as the EPL and I don't think he values the virtues of actual defending (a slight hint of continental elitism in that). He's like LVG in terms of how sometimes you'd be scratching your head at the sheer arrogance in a lot of his decisions, & that's how City fans are feeling now.

Lastly, I think it says a lot of the competition in Spain that non-elite mangers like Enrique & Zidane do well. A lot of Barca fans don't even like Enrique & for me he isn't even top 20 in the world, same goes for Zidane. You could argue that Pep built (or at least tweaked) the system that allows such a manager to look good despite archaic decisions and stupid signings, but the truth is the competition isn't half as fierce as it is in England. I think he'll leave without winning a single title.

Mourinho knows the league, has done it CL with teams that doesn't have the best player in the world, and both of them don't stay at clubs for long so don't even talk about the long term thing.

also fuck possession football i don't want to see that shit ever again.

No because I'm not a fan of possession football. Simple.

I used to think that we made a major mistake letting City get him.

However, after watching the first half of the season I really believe (maybe too optimistically) that Mourihno is going to stay and try and build a dynasty.
No way in hell Pep is going to be anywhere for the long haul unless he returns to Barca in a few years.

I don't think so. Mou knows what it takes to win the Premier League and I think that the impact he's had on whether players want to join us or not is second to none. I believe that Pep's style of play can be countered with pressing very high up the pitch plus good defensive performance(e.g City vs Spurs & Liverpool)

I feel the both styles are beautiful in their own way. Under LVG's system, when teams decided to engage us, the dominance was unreal. But, then everyone started to sit on it and we had to be super creative in the final 1/3, which led to a lot of draws or 1-0 wins/losses. I like the attacking nature and emphasis on winning under Mourinho's setup, it's exciting and fun to watch.

I actually think we would have had a better season under Pep, because LVG's system would have readily translated. I guess I don't really care as long as the football is beautiful. I was one of the people that thought LVG should have another year, especially after winning the FA cup. I've since changed my mind, mainly due to his poor man management style. LVG would need complete submission and control, whereas Mourinho can navigate egos as long as it is understood that he is the boss. Pep's approach is similar to LVG's in that respect, except Pep seems a bit more passive aggressive. I think Mourinho's approach is much more pragmatic and effective with millionaires.

My concern is that when it goes bad, Mourinho has historically been quick to burn the house down. With United, I am hopeful that it won't get to that point. Under our structure, the manager is the ultimate authority, so the house he burns would only be his own... Unlike Roman Abramovich and Florentino Perez, the Glazers seems to just look at the financials and stay out of the day-to-day.

Short and sweet for me. I really do get the feeling the Pep doesn't give a single fuck about his fans. Don't ask me why, I just get that vibe.

Mou on the other hand, I've always loved him, the passion, the sarcasm, the vitriol, the mind games and his style of play.

He loves United, you can see it. He respects the club, and he respects us as fans. That's all I want from a manager.

I don't know how many Reds liked him whilst at Chelsea, but I've always rated him.

Mou all day.
